Dell McGee 100% percent my top choice. From 2 hours away and played his college ball in the state. Won a GHSAA state championship and turned Carver in Columbus into a State Power. Been on two national championship staffs. Won the SBC at Southern and was the interim for there Go Daddy Bowl win. Plus he's a great recruiter. Bring back Sumrall as DC and to help recruit North Alabama.

Why not try for Steve Campbell at South? Troy Grad and did great at UCA. We shouldn't judge him on his 1 year tenure at South. Double his salary.

Promote Matt Moore. Neal might keep their DC on staff, maybe we keep Vic.

Ok, this is probably a dumb question, but is there any chance Derrick Ansley would talk to us or has that ship sailed?

I think Sumrall needs more expierence first... if we lose Vic Koenning then 100% call him for DC

I could get on board with Sumrall! Mixed emotions. Was on two staffs with HC's promoted from within....Rhoades (excellent choice)....Maddox (Poor choice). Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. One problem we had with Maddox was the whole staff stayed except Coach Mac. Maddox never could establish authority..Rhoades made no bones he was in charge now. The staff never excepted Maddox was in charge. My OL coach blatantly sent us out in full pads after Maddox stated shorts and shells. Only time I seen Maddox get mad and correct a coach.

Promote Matt Moore. Neal might keep their DC on staff, maybe we keep Vic. WVU could double VK salary, WVU's and every other DC in the Big 12 is evidently incapable of stopping anyone and I think VK and Neal work well together. I expect this staff to follow, hope I'm wrong

I expect this staff to follow, hope I'm wrong Gibson is being promoted very hard by higher ups and current players to be retained as DC. If that were not the case, then I would 100% expect NB to take VK with him. Neal Brown is a great coach, and maybe the smartest coach in the country, but VK was a huge part of his success at Troy. Not sure he'll have Top 15 defenses with a different hire at WVU.

Maybe recruiting coordinator or something along that lines and is if he even stays.

I'm glad a lot of you don't work in the Troy athletic department. We would have some of the dumbest hires ever seen in history.

So with the dead period for recruiting ending soon (not a gray many spots) I believe we will have our coach by the 10th.

Gattis or Golding would both be huge but that payday would be equally as huge. I got a feeling Alabama would match almost any number Troy would be able to offer.

Ok, this is probably a dumb question, but is there any chance Derrick Ansley would talk to us or has that ship sailed? Asking a lot of guy that is in his first year in the NFL, but it's worth the shot. Would def. be an interesting hire but you're talking about a guy that has never even been DC somewhere. Hell of a DB coach, knows the area and is a Troy grad but HC might be a tall order at this point. He's still VERY young, though.

If he's interviewed and blows away the interview as, according to reports, CNB did 4 years ago, it could once again be lightning in a bottle. He spent several years around Saban and now one with Gruden so he's certainly seen what it means to organize and manage. 🤷🏻♂️

I think Lashlee could be a good hire. But also, I don't think we need to let salary difference rule out higher paid assistants at big schools. I would suspect a young ambitious OC/DC (or Co OC/DC) would take a bit less money for a chance to be a HC. Brown showed that you can certainly use us as a spring board to get "real" $$$. But yes ... agree ... I think Lashlee should be a candidate if he's interested. Always struck me as a sharp guy.
