In this case, we wouldn't be able to afford a new OC/offensive mind. The great think about Neal is, that you get 2-for-1 -> HC + OC. It saves a ton of money. Unless someone like Tony Franklin would be ok with coming to Troy for a minor raise, I don't see how we could make this work. I love CNB, but our Offense has been our weakest link. Wins cost money. if we hadn’t lost Barker our offense would have been humming all season long or substantially better. Think he made that much of a difference.

I've been thinking about Sumrall and reading his bio on the Ole Miss site. In my opinion, I don't think he is ready to be the HBC at Troy. I think we need a proven former HC. We gambled and won with Brown, but it was a gamble. It doesn't matter anyway because Troy gone do what Troy gone do. Washed up head coach is a gamble just like an up and comer is. LB - assistant we took a chance on, worked out well NB - see above Jon Sumrall - see above x 2

CNB already had a better resume and more experience when we hired him as HC (OC at Troy, Texas Tech and Kentucky) + MBA grad from UMass which makes him a great manager/organizer. CNB is quite strategic in his methods/approach: Hiring data companies to provide him with all kinds of intel, giving perfect interviews on national tv and promoting Troy FB, and working with SportsIllustrated on getting a major Troy feature story done. He also introduced our slogan (#RTW) and decided to change our logo. He was highly involved in designing our new endzone complex. Being an successful HC at a G5 program is more than just playcalling and some delegating, you really need to be a CEO: www.sbnation.com/college-football/2017/9/29/16382818/neal-brown-troy-football-head-coach-lsuNB when he accepted the Troy HC job: www.kentucky.com/sports/college/kentucky-sports/uk-football/article44527461.htmlTroy is not just a program that managed to win 30+ games in the past seasons - we are better in so many aspects including branding, facilities, media exposure. CNB and his strategic plan is the main reason.

Here are some possibilities we should explore: Kliff Kingsbury Bill Clark Lance Leipold Dave Aranda Brent Key Tosh Lupoi Brent Venables Kingsbury is interviewing for NFL head jobs, don't think he'd come to Troy.

Along with losing the two best receivers for a significant part of the second half of the season. We were 100% when we lost to Boise. The Liberty loss could have been avoided but the App game was 50/50. So a full health roster would buy us 1 more win.

Players making their first starts against a team that was lights out in their first game of the season. Which performed worse in that game, the offense of defense? Fifth year starter versus a guy making his first start. Sawyer’s first start was not up to standard and Tron Folsom was out vs Liberty. App Dt might have been a different game with a healthy group. It is what it is and can’t met changed now.

AD should know by now. I hope we have a plan, so many great potential coaches are not available anymore incl Drinkwitz (App St), Yurcich (new OC at Ohio State), Houston (ECU), etc

Some updates wvuwire.com/2019/01/04/tidbits-wvus-coaching-search-updates/-Troy’s defensive coordinator, Vic Koenning, is a possibility to join Brown if he comes to WVU. However, Koening would be considered the top choice to replace Brown at Troy. -An announcement could come as early as today (Friday). However, we have also been told that the announcement may wait until after the National Championship game, which is this Monday night.

I think the article writer is just making the assumption Vic would be a high choice for head coach. Granted I dont personally know him, but he doesn't strike me as having an HC personality. Kinda like Tony Franklin. Great coordinator, but not HC. Not that I don't love Vic. I want to keep him forever. As DC.

However, he has the experience and knows what to do - two years HC at Wyoming, Interims HC at Illinois and Assistant HC at K-St and UNC, besides he is such an exceptional DC (one of the best DCs in the nation) that we need to keep him here...whatever it takes.

Matt Moore HC John Sumrall DC What about Jordan Lesley for DC? No way that needs to happen, he needs to continue too wash that JOCO mentality off of him before he ever needs to become a DC at this level.

HC/DC Vic K OC - hire someone, maybe Tony Franklin (always liked his offenses better than CNB's anyway) OL - TF would know someone fur sure WR - Cornelius W, if he joins CNB, then Austin Silvoy - that way D remains stable, we can't allow too many changes.

Yea people gotta start somewhere...he has 2 years as a defensive coordinator and he has learned from vic im sure...Vic is by far Troys best DC...if you learn from him you will probably be successful.
