Paul Johnson is retiring, the Louisville job should have some clarity today. It's very stressful having a winning coach.
How about this bowl scenario, UCF gets into playoff or a P6 bowl (pretty much a guarantee). AAC then has 7 bowl spots to fill but they only have 6 more 6 win (or more) teams. Birmingham Bowl is the last in the pecking order for the AAC, they have their SEC side handled but need an opponent.
In walks Troy to play an SEC school in UAB's ugly old house...boom!

It's pretty much that or Mobile. Looks like Mobile is the only one left not "officially" filled. I'd rather play SEC.

I'm intrigued with this logic. Keep in mind that no official announcement has been made for the DG Bowl.

That's part of the thought process here.... the fact that the other SBC bowls are jumping on these early announcements and nothing from DG. Every projection for Bham bowl is different with no 2 conferences matching up. They would never put together a plan like this on the projections, they are not smart enough... bring on the big boys

So, not sure anything is "official" yet besides Sunday's winner goes to NO and loser goes to Orl. The Arizona bowl is CBS Sports ... so they could announce officially.

GA Tech might come calling. Some real possibility there ... but also very tough to recruit. I remember when Chan was there and I took a few players to visit. The recruiting coordinator said "if a kid doesn't have at least a 24 act ... I don't really need to talk to them". The coaches had to recruit all over the country ... competed with the likes of Notre Dame and Stanford ... in addition to the ACC/SEC schools for kids.

That and GT doesn't remotely have the personel to run Spread. Their current qb couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat throwing the ball. Tough, tough opening for a coach. They might have to go after the Army or Navy coach

My prediction is Memphis beats UCF Sat. Losing Milton is a HUGE Blow. If UCF Loses then there are some different scenarios that take place

There is another regional school without a bowl home right now, Southern Miss. Bowl eligible but no auto tie ins available given their rank in the conference.

I would enjoy getting a crack at Auburn but heard they would refuse to play us

the fall out from Auburn turning down a bowl to not play little ole troy would guarantee a few things The AD would be in some really hot water and what a media nightmare Gus would lose any credibility he has left - they will play us
