Btw, there are 28 teams that are 75% winning percentage or higher at this point this season - 12 of them have 75% winning percentage. So, to say that we aren’t a good team, when only 16 teams in FBS have a higher winning percentage, is also myopic. Of our 9 wins, only 3 come against teams with winning records. 1 of which is FAMU and is 1AA. Yeah I'll be myopic and look at the details. on the myopia we agree. And you also said that one more win - which could be against a currently 6-6 team (which, if true, would make them 6-7 after the game - also a losing season), would make us not stinky. If that scenario played out, then we’d still have only beaten 3 teams with winning records. Very plausible scenario 9-3 (with 3 wins against winning records) = stinky; 10-3 (with 3 wins against winning records) = not stinky. So, is it the wins being double digit or wins against winning records that matters more. I’d just like to understand for later, since it seems like your logic may be putting this convo into a box - that would be 8 men in the box, btw. - just in case it’s hard to see - with the myopia and all.

Preach. As someone that played on teams at TROY (State) that went 4-6 (two years removed from a Natty, btw); 5-5; 5-6 (LB’s first season); 10-1; and 12-1-1, I know how hard it is to win. I also know how hard those kids and coaches worked this year through a boatload of adversity. I wish that we couldba hosted the inaugural conf championship, but we were beaten by the better team - that day. Thanks for posting that very informative information. All those wins will be why folks come poaching our staff. They’ve done an outstanding job with our program and this season, in particular. Very proud of our Trojans!!!

I’d appreciate no one telling me what I will and won’t remember. I remember a guy named Eddie Coleman - first guy to rush for 1,000 yards. I remember a guy named Kelvin Simmons. I remember a guy named Eric Mizzel. And you know what, none of those guys won a champiosnshkp, but they laid a foundation. In fact, I played multiple seasons with each of them. Several of us went on to lose in the 1993 semi-finals. And Lord knows that several knobs on here never seem to forget Jeremy and that loss to GA Southern. He was a great representative for our university, and, frankly, doesn’t deserve the negative crap spewed here about him. He gave his blood, sweat, tears, time; he recruited and coached a lot of other great representatives from our alma mater. So, please stop telling me what will and won’t be remembered. I have memories that you’ll never know about. And most of them are great guys that gave it their all and didn’t win a championship. But they are my brothers (and some sisters that were part of the training staff) that busted their humps for our program. To belittle their accomplishments and efforts by saying that only championships matter is myopic at best. 1st, you are correct on everyone has, deserves and has the right to have their own perspective. That what makes this country great. But let’s not make JR out to be some saint for recruiting, coaching and giving his sweat while collecting a large paycheck from the University, that was his job and he freely accepted doing it while cashing the check. While he was a player, yes he gave up his time and sweat (and he partied as well) and deserves the respect for that. ( I just wished he would have strolled in to the end zone instead of passing that ball in 93😃. He was a better runner than passer anywayIMO)

( I just wished he would have strolled in to the end zone instead of passing that ball in 93😃. He was a better runner than passer anywayIMO) I didn’t say “saint” him - Lololol. I really said two main things - first clearly things other than championships are remembered, and he’s an example. Second, he’s still taking grief for stuff from 90s. As for job versus giving, not everyone represents their employer well everyday (AU basketball coaches; Ole Miss football coaches; etc., etc.) As for partying, lots of folks on this board party, and it’s not discussed on a message board (we’ll, sometimes in fun, but not in judgment). Not saying that he was a “saint”, but am saying that he did more good than bad. I’ll admit that I’m biased - I hosted him & Dan Brady on their official visits. So, I have close ties to JR emotionally. He was a good runner, but dude had a cannon. Really could spin it. I appreciate your perspective. Not trying to frustrate a convo. I’d just like to let JR move on & focus on today’s team. Reading the same ole stuff about his defenses & all that - even that was years ago. This all started with someone else’s comment that a similar 9-3 next year would have us looking for a coach. So, if the last 3 years isn’t good enuf - then JR’s tenure was like decades ago in football years - Lololol. And then finally, our record over the past 3 years - even if we’re playong against the Little Sisters of the Poor - is a helluva run. Go TROY GO!!

We also had 4 turnovers, and they are known for being a pretty good defense.

Quick thought:
2016 DG Bowl Attendance = 32,377 2017 New Orleans Bowl Attendance = 24,904
Camellia Bowl Capacity = 25,000 DG Bowl Capacity = 40,000 Cure Bowl Capacity = 65,000
No doubt Montgomery would want TROY, the game would likely sell out. However, you would also be limiting ticket sales to only 25K.

Please give Troy the Cure Bowl versus an AAC team! Please, please, please no Dollar General Bowl. Ladd Peebles Stadium in the winter against a MAC team isn't rewarding for a Troy team that did so well this year. I hope the AD is having talks with the Cure... As much as I would love to go to Orlando, as long as Camillia gets third pick, we aren't getting out of Alabama. Cure being run by CBS doesn't help.

Very selfish reason but I'm really hoping they get the Camellia Bowl bid. I have to cover the game and I would much rather go to Montgomery and then be able to come home and sleep in my own bed lol

Anything is possible with backroom wheeling and dealing. I'm hopeful. I'm not up on the who's who of bowl games, so I feel like Cure gets the short stick for being outside the ESPN golden circle. And then there's the whole home state thing. I do think Mobile does a great job presenting their bowl for folks who can make it. ESPN just screwed it up date wise and their announcers spend the whole broadcast talking about that other game.

Our D played lights out Saturday in my opinion - they made some plays on offense that no one could stop imo Our O is/was really banged up - 2nd string and third string are 2nd and 3rd for a reason - it shows up from I think Neal and this team overachieved a bit - considering the production we lost on O from last year - we had a really good year
Our D is Salty - 19 rushing yards in the 3rd quarter Saturday - we lost and it sucks but that D made me proud to be a Trojan - they just kept coming and coming - further the scores were on short fields and how many calls could go against us - right or wrong - each one was demoralizing
Great season whether we win or lose the bowl - We technically played for the Championship Saturday imo - I will take it because from 2011 - 2015 - it sucked- BIG suckie suckie too
And for the record - we traveled well to Boone so hats off to the Trojan Nation for showing up

I'm pulling for Orlando because its a 90 minute drive for me and the players would have a great time there. My gut says Montgomery though

ATTN Troy athletic department folks who may scour this board...
Camellia Bowl or Cure Bowl, please. I think it's safe to say the majority of fans would like to move on from the Dollar General Bowl, at least for now.

If Arkansas St wins they go to NO which would leave App St probably going to Dollar General which then leaves us either going to Montgomery or Orlando and the administration I'm guessing picks Montgomery for ticket sales. If App Wins then it gets interesting.

Look for the SBC refs to screw App in the championship game. stAte fans want the Arizona bowl.

Bowl scenarios are as predictable as the weather six months out.
If we don’t get your bowl of choice, just remember that in 14 and 15 we won a combined 7 games and we’re begging just to be a .500 team. We all have our preferences, but we all won’t be thrilled with the choice. Let’s get to 10 wins again
