Think about this: Does anyone remember Gardner Minshew? He signed with Troy, Coach Browns 1st season. Very smart kid who finished High School early and was able to participate in Spring drills before he actually graduated high school. Because of Brandon Silvers being a lock for the starting position, he transferred to North West community college. Won a national championship and then went to East Carolina. Transfered to Washington State who is a top 10 contender. Has passed for 3800 yds this season with Mike Leach. Where would Troy be if that kid would have stuck around. Passing Year School Conf Class Pos G Cmp Att Pct Yds Y/A AY/A TD Int Rate 2016 East Carolina American SO QB 7 119 202 58.9 1347 6.7 6.6 8 4 124.0 2017 East Carolina American JR QB 10 174 304 57.2 2140 7.0 7.1 16 7 129.1 2018 Washington State Pac-12 SR QB 10 364 523 69.6 3852 7.4 7.9 29 7 147.1 Career Overall 657 1029 63.8 7339 7.1 7.4 53 18 137.3 East Carolina 293 506 57.9 3487 6.9 6.9 24 11 127.1 Washington State 364 523 69.6 3852 7.4 7.9 29 7 147.1 Was wondering how he started as a SR at Wash State after Jr year at ECU. After a bit of search, he graduated ECU in Dec 2017, left the program Urban Meyer style (Family issues) then surfaced at Washington State as a 5th year Grad student this past summer (I guess the Cougars offer resolved the family issues). It appears he only started 5 games at ECU last year, alternating with 5th year Grad transfer Thomas Sirk (Duke). ECU posted a 1-4 record with Gardner at the helm, losing 3 of the last 4 games. He's tearing it up in the PAc-12 this year at Pullman, WA. Doubt if he's a candidate for Heisman tho'. Hard to imagine that we'd a done better than Brandon Silvers at the Trojans helm the last three years. Brandon lead the Trojans to a 21-5 record his last two years, including two Bowl wins. Nobody runs air raid like Mike Leach.....period. Qb's thrive in his system. Was he better than Brandon? Can't say because we don't run air raid and we don't need to call our offense air raid. Wash St and WV run air raid and you see the passing yards difference. Grier at WV was adequate at UF but flourished at WV. The qb before him couldn't start at FSU and put up huge numbers at WV. Sometimes it's the right qb finding the right system.

I'ts going to be COLD at App and they have had snow games. Unlikely we play in the snow but anything is possible in dem dar hills lol. Going to be one of the biggest Sun Belt games in our history. What we don't need to do is being looking past The Armadillos and pull a A Mr.Potato Head/Hello Kitty/Fighting Falwells. Crush The Armadillos and carry that into the Banjo Boys Yep, it's winter weather in Boone now. This morning at about 7:00 am, there was about an inch of snow/ice on the field at Kidd Brewer Stadium. The lines on the field could not be seen. I tried to post a Twitter post of it here, but could not get it large enough for you guys to see. I don't think it will be bad weather this weekend for GaState. Highs of about 50, kickoff in the mid-40s, and sunny. There's no telling what the weather will be NEXT weekend though. An old adage from when I went to school there in the early 1980s: If you don't like the Boone weather, just wait 15 minutes. Here's hoping both teams take care of business this weekend. If we do, there's gonna be a showdown in Boone. Yall come!
