My Tallahassee family is coming to stay with us. If they are still here Saturday, they are going to have to watch the Troy game. FSU is off, but who cares right?

I heard that Bay Hospital in PC suffered severe damage and they have to evacuate the entire hospital. If this is true I can't imagine how/where these poor patients will go to. I haven't seen a hospital in ages that had available beds and there are road closures everywhere especially I-10 from Crestview to Tally.. Anyone heard about this. I can't reach my best friend in Lynn Haven as they have no cell service. A large number of those patients were sent to Pensacola or Mobile. They were unable to transfer them to us in Dothan due to the storms impact here. Some, but certainly not all, were transferred before the storm hit.

I almost hesitate to type this because as soon as I do we will find out somebody on here lost everything...or a relative did... or some sort. Any way, I’m gonna take a chance and provide an update. For the most part, Dothan and regions west faired ok...except for those on the coast. There is an abundance of trees down, some of those on houses. There are almost 25,000 in Dothan alone without power, another 17,000 or so with Witegrass Electric. That said, I’ve heard of no deaths or serious injuries as a result of the storm. We pretty much dodged a bullet in Dothan. The same can’t be said for points east of here. Donalsonville, GA, roughly 40 miles east of Dothan recorded a gust of 116 MPh, while the peak gust here was 60 something MPH. The folks in SW GA got hammered. I haven’t included regions south of here and along the coast. It’s not that I am discounting them but everybody knows by now how devasting the storm was there. I’m thankful tonight for the blessing of God’s protection and I’m praying for those who have been devasted today. Stay safe TROJANS and if you can assist those in need because of this storm, please do. I had to travel to some of these areas yesterday because the company I work for supplies essentials for some institutions. For those of you familiar with that area from south of Cottonwood through Malone all the way to the coast is just devastated. I saw things that left me speechless. My thoughts and prayers are with Buzz and everyone else in that area. Shoutout to the Cajun Navy and every other volunteer that worked their tails off to clear those roads to make it possible for people to get in and out.

It's heartbreaking to see what's happened. This is my hometown. I can barely recognize what I'm looking at in a lot of pictures. And Mexico Beah is my favorite "locals" beach. It's not hyperbole to say it was effectively wiped off the map. Check out the images the New York Times has this morning of the city. They did a great job cataloguing it.
Fortunately my family is ok, although everyone's house took damage and we were all really worried about my father, who had a pretty intense experience hunkering down in his house as the water came in and the windows blew out. He lost most everything. Many friends lost their houses too. Everywhere you look there is ruin.
It will take a long time to rebuild and there are tough times ahead. Really praying that an even better Panama City arises from the rubble.
The one positive in all this is how small the death toll appears to be, despite too many people choosing to stay when they should have evacuated.

DT and Mrs. DT bugged out to our farm house in Blakely Georgia. Big mistake. It got scary rough for an hour or 2 in Southwest Georgia.
We wanted to get back to Dothan to check on our place there and it was a trip that wouldn't have taken place without chainsaws, chains, and a 4x4 pickup. Homes fared ok, family is fine, just no power for a while. They are talking 2 weeks in Georgia. So, DT will have the ear buds in tomorrow BBQ'ing and serving up hot plates for linemen and emergency crews. There is not a single gas station, grocery store, or supply store open yet in Blakely. Bama folks, don't go to GA or FL unless its to assist. Its bad.

Please continue to update. One of my old teammates is still staying with his daughter in Troy because they can't get back to Wewa and my best friend in Lynn Haven we only know is ok but his house took major damage. My teammate still doesn't know what damage he has and they will have rotting food in the fridge. This is a major tragedy. Schools will be canceled for a long time, peoples jobs are lost, homes gone, no money coming in to pay bills or buy food and gas and no where to stay.

Power has been restored to the east end of Thomas Drive. So most of the Beach has power now. East of Michigan Ave in Panama City to east of Pt St Joe is as hemiman described. I moved from the beach this past January. I spent three decades deploying to these things as a first responder. Never thought an Andrew like or stronger storm would hit my old back yard. Kinda numb right now. If you have friends in the area use this link to zoom in to their property to see how their structure held up. Getting ready for some chainsaw runs from LA. Contribute as much as you can to relief organizations. The side of town that hit the worst other than Mexico Beach will need help for a long time. Mexico Beach does not exist anymore. Over 200 stayed there. storms.ngs.noaa.gov/storms/michael/index.html#7/30.137/-85.599

Please keep the updates coming. I can't contact my best friend or old roommate in Wewa (went back today). Have no way of checking on them. My heart goes out to everyone up there. It is a monumental rebuilding process ahead.

We gave good friends who are originally from Port St Joe and they have family staying with them. Thode family members don’t know yet what they’ll return to in the way of structures to live in, but they know they will not return home to jobs. Thousands of people bugged out and many of them have NOTHING to return to. Let that sink in...no home, no job, no prospect for a job...nothing. Now consider the portion of the coast that was Mexico Beach. It is scorched earth. It is as uninhabitable right now as it was when the first settlers made their homes there. There is nothing left. I can’t imagine what the storm survivors are going through. It is my prayer that all of you with friends and family from the impacted areas will find them well.

We didn't even watch the game today. We were too busy packing up a trailer for a trip to Port St. Joe tomorrow morning.
Another trip planned for Tuesday/Wednesday. We will continue to make trips until they are no longer needed.
Surf Report: Air temp is 68, water is 83, wind is blowing 4-10mph out of the NE. The high tide was at 1:02 am and the low tide was at 12:04 pm. Surf is running ankle to shin.

What route are you using? I had heard I-10 was closed from Crestview west and my friend and teamate from Wewa was told they were blocking people at the Gulf County line. That was Friday so maybe things have changed.

Marianna here. They are figuring 3 weeks maybe I maybe operational. I serve a predominately Medicaid Pediatric clientel. I do not know where or how they are at this point. We are cleaning up as best we can and my brother is coming from Kansas with equipment to help restore our property. I know it is hideous else where and as many have said the most severe are South and East of us. Please be advised that thru the kindness of theirs we will make it but my folks for now are unemployed and that is the worst part. We will see if possible to reopen and if we have patients left to serve. A continued thanks to all who help with time labor money and prayers.

From your Governor on Twitter, hope this helps some... @flgovscott
Just learned that my request for Transitional Sheltering Assistance has been approved for Bay Co, meaning that @fema will be providing more options for places for families to stay, including hotel rooms. They’ll begin accepting applications tomorrow. We’ll put out more info asap.

I've been unable to communicate with the outside world until now. We evacuated to my family in Donalsonville, GA, which had Hurricane Michael 2.0. That area is devastated.
Back here in Lynn Haven it's Mad Max meets The Walking Dead. However in the midst of that, incredible people are doing incredible things. My area was completely destroyed but my wife and I are so blessed. Our liveaboard sailboat is likely a total loss so now it's time to decide what the next steps are.
Pray for us down here. Chainsaws, water, candles, diapers, tarps, and fuel are badly needed for any who are able to bring or send help. Until next time, into the dead zone I go.

Update as people begin to focus on South. Incredible work is being done by so many and I encourage all to continue to pray for communities. Somehow God protected everyone here in Marianna. I am stunned no one was killed. Lease cheer extra hard next Tuesday for I will be here and trying to give a Go Troy along the way. PS some how my Troy flag survives and is now back up as we begin a very very long way back.
