Latest projection has Troy in the Cure Bowl at Orlando vs Cincinnati. Would be a nice trip. It beats going to Montgomery for what amounts to an extra home game.

The Cactus Bowl would be a nice trip if I could afford it. Montgomery in December isn't a bowl game in my book.

I can’t find it in these posts but over on the CUSA board they are truly accepting their rightful place of CU and SA as the lowest conference. CU and SA now stands for Conference Us Suck A lot

The Cactus Bowl would be a nice trip if I could afford it. Montgomery in December isn't a bowl game in my book. I HEAR YA! That would be a nice trip, but then so would the Cotton Bowl. Problem, we don't have a tie-in with the Cotton Bowl. IF we have the opportunity to play a game AFTER Dec 2, then we have to go. BTW - the Camellia Bowl is probably the BEST BOWL GAME for Troy to play in - from a fiscal point of view. It quite possible could be the ONLY bowl game where Troy would actually MAKE MONEY on the experience. One thing is for sure, we wouldn't lose any money going to Montgomery, still get 12-15 more practices, reward the players for another successful year, give them a chance to play for a bowl championship, and fans an opportunity to watch their favorite college football team take the field one more time. I apologize if Troy isn't your favorite college football team and if that is the case, I can see where you are coming from with the "Montgomery in December isn't a bowl game in your book!"

I went to the first Camellia Bowl with free tickets and it was a great time other being freezing cold and not having a dog in the fight. They had a pre game concert and tailgate tents set up on Patterson Field. They supposedly do a nice job on that Friday with the pep a rally's and the Christmas Parade.

I'd love the Cure Bowl, but it will never happen. With two in state tie-ins, if we can't get Dollar General we get Camillia, barring NOLA. That said, Orlando is close for me and an economical trip on a good date. NOLA is $$$ and DG has a crappy date (but is slightly better this year by a hair). I also hear CBS Sports does a good job with very little talk of other games during broadcast.

The Sun Belt has a tie in with the bowl in Tucson. A lot of people like to take trips to bowl games regardless of who they root for. Would Alabama fans rather see the Tide play in Birmingham or Santa Clara Ca? Troy is my favorite college team with Emory and Henry Va (Fathers Alma mater) second.

In addition, we need to get our brand out to a wider audience such as Tucson, Arizona if we are to keep competing at this level.

Talking about potential Bowl games should be the standard at Troy So should the possibility of a National Championship. Boise could go undefeated and UCF could go undefeated. Then the selection committee has some things to think about. We need the Sunbelt to be strong and win their out of conference games and we need to be able to play week 1. You can't tell me that if we were undefeated at the end of this season, we wouldn't be in the conversation. Conference titles are great but they are just a step to greater things. College football is changing and teams that spend less money than the big guys are becoming competitive. Bama can continue to spend what they are spending and continue to have bag men but Sunbelt and MWC etc are gaining.

It would be bigger than 90% of the bowl games played. Lol. Talking about bowl games is for fun. Doesn't mean anyone is ignoring or overlooking the current week. We've been talking about the 2018 bowl season since the drive home from New Orleans. Because its fun to be able to again. And because we need to make travel plans. So don't take bowl talk so seriously and have fun with it.

Winning at LSU didn't WIN the team anything but victory. The Sun Belt wins and Bowl Win is what WON them their rings. Not the 15 minutes of fame we got for beating LSU. Which was promptly extinguished with a loss at home against South 11 days later.... So while winning at Nebraska would be big for the program, another 15 minutes of fame (maybe 20 this time) it 'wins' the team nothing, but for victory and confidence. 8 of the next 9 are what are most important. Most important to the team, the coaches, the staff, everyone except those out here on the sidelines wanting to feel more euphoric about a win in Lincoln than they would winning the Sun Belt Conference and representing the conference as its Champion.

Man, you need to think big, this small time thinking from fans is killing us ! 20 years from these players would still recall a victory over Nebraska, not a victory in the Cure Bowl in a crap stadium on ESPN 8.

Going to Bowl games and winning bowl games is great, but I bet if you asked every player on the Troy football team what was their biggest victory of the year last year, I think most would say the LSU victory...just saying...Winning against teams like LSU and winning against teams like Nebraska gives Troy more notoriety , more national exposure and generates more fan interest then any sunbelt bowl tie in game does. People are still talking about the Troy victory over LSU last year. I bet most people don't even remember or know who Troy played in their bowl game last year.

One thing I'll say about the LSU game. To this day, when people find out I'm a Troy fan, they'll go "didn't they beat LSU last year?" and I get to say "yep!" Conference championships, bowl wins, rings...all that is very important to the team, school, and fans. But that LSU victory gave us recognition and exposure, which was good too!
