While I do agree that we HAVE GOT TO FIX our deep pass coverage. Short and medium stuff - we cover pretty well. We put LOTS of pressure on the QB, that is going to help the backend. I think they are just young and are not going through all their progressions (YES, DBs have progressions - it is called 'reading the play'). I disagree to some extent. The DBs we have in Blace Brown, Cedarius Rookard, Marcus Jones, and Terrence Dunlap have all played a lot of football. It's possible the spear position and cat safety are blowing it, but I don't know. Blace Brown was solid last year and isn't starting this year. He's made some mental mistakes so far. The unit as a whole needs to get better, even the guys with experience. Don't forget, Blace is returning from a knee injury (torn ACL if I remember correctly) suffered in the stAte game. 8 1/2 months to rehab a torn ACL is not a long time. I agree with the rest of your assessment, especially the safety reference. We seem to be late getting safety help deep, but that should get better as he gets more reps. Remember, he just moved from CB to safety during camp.

I could have sworn you predicted that FAMU would beat Troy... They did! Seeing as any touchdown scored by an FCS opponent is worth 60 points. We lost by 1 point. classic !

No its not. Playing an FCS opponent is boring. That's why attendance at every FBS school is down when they play them. Its really bad when you play a team like FAMU that obviously watched film and were exposing our weaknesses. If that was a SunBelt team that prepared as well as FAMU, we would have lost. So did we lose on the scoreboard??? No. FAMU did their job and every one of or next opponents a favor by revealing our lack of pass defense. So yeah they beat us. Well it might be "boring" for you and those like you. Wasn't boring for me and those like me. I got to see 80+ guys play, with meaningful reps with the 1s, 2s and 3s. These guys come to play and ALL got a chance to play. If you didn't like this game YOU WOULD HAVE HATED the originally scheduled game for this slot, Presbyterian. When they opted to go back to D-II we had to schedule (QUICKLY) and got a GREAT GAME, from a business point of view! They brought a GREAT CROWD and had their band not DEMANDED a "performance fee" to attend (they need money real bad in Tally), it would likely have been a sell out! WHAT is BORING and something that I find HORRENDOUS is it sounds as if you would like us to go back to playing "BIG BOYS" for our non-conference schedule. Which is a HORRIBLE decision, because that takes us back to 5 home games and 7 on the road. Tailgating on Saturday, at the Alumni House, with no game being played at the VET - BORING! Vic gets this fixed, two weeks of tape should help him greatly, and we should be poised to do good things in the conference. Remember, our schedule doesn't even start until Sept 22nd in Monroe, LA. These first three games are warm-ups to what we are really striving to do! HAVOC! we are not covering well. It’s ok to be a sunshine pumper but damn not to the point where my blind dead grandmother can see we have major issues in the backend.

If Koening and company can't get the coverage issues taken care of, we may be in for a long game... Also, Barker/Sawyer need to work on their long ball.

Barker is a better athlete than Silvers. He showed some wheels on the long run against FAMU. Maybe we can do a lot of RPO's with him?

From The Montgomery Advertiser.... "Mo money, mo problems: Troy is set to receive $1.15 million as a guarantee for Saturday’s game at Nebraska. That matches the amount the Trojans received for 2015’s game at Wisconsin." Regardless of the outcome, not a bad day getting a bit of coin...!

Nebraska fan here.. Looking forward to a great weekend of football in Lincoln! I know some of you are coming up for the game and would love to recommend a few spots. Sandys, the Railyard, Brewskys are a few bar type spots within a mile of the stadium. Google Haymarket District and you will find all you need for the weekend. If you have time, head over to Omaha (45 mins) to sight see as there is not much to do in Lincoln in terms of entertainment.
Talking football: I think you guys pose a bigger challenge than must experts think. The good news is that Martinez was cleared to play this week after practice today but its still TBD about his status for saturday. Also, an 11am game also creates an equalizer for the game, aka fans still waking up. My score prediction is 52-17 w Martinez, 30- 21 NU without Martinez. He is that big of difference maker on the field. Thanks and I hope everyone enjoys the weekend!

Nebraska only lost the game because it was their first game of the season. However, Martinez will be banged up and he is still a true FR, he will make some FR mistakes. Prediction w Martinez: 34-24, without Martinez: 24-17 Trojans

I ventured through the Haymarket while visiting Lincoln and it's a nice area. I also found the state capitol a nice place to check out. As far Omaha goes I'd suggest every go to the Old Market. Nice place with lots of restaurants and clubs and most importantly safe. As far as the game goes history shows we don't have much luck in the Mid West. I believe we took our worst loss since moving up to FBS, a 56-0 drubbing. Yes, we were blown out at home against Boise but I felt maybe we learned a lot from that loss and have patched up some holes. I won't be as bold to make a prediction but I believe at least we'll be competitive.

Hey folks, BSU fan here. Good luck this weekend against Nebraska. At worst, I think you should be able to keep this one in doubt until the end. If Martinez doesn't play I would consider you guys the favorite in this game.

Nebraska Wednesday Practice Report:
Sounds like it will likely be Bunch at QB. The coaches made a point to stress that Bunch can run too. He actually looked pretty good when he came in at end of CO game. Nebraska is good. Defense is stout! The really beat themselves against CO. Hopefully we can hold onto the ball ... and get some takeaways.

After looking at the video of Martinez's injury, who thinks that there was intent to it? I sure do. That looked very dirty and deserves some sort of response from the powers that be.
