I guess there's a difference in philosophies. I want everyone to be better and I want to be the best. I don't get any pleasure in wishing someone to fail so I can look better. I asked a question,Do you want to give south national tv exposure at Troy’s expense by playing in a bowl at their new stadium and have all the talk be about that instead of game on the field? Recruits would see that new stadium on national tv and that wouldn’t just help south,it would hurt Troy.

While I understand the "hatred" for USA from the Troy side, this is a BAD THING for the Jags in particular but for the Sun Belt as a whole. This conference is trying to continue to build on its reputation, winning bowl games, competing against the "BIG FELLAs", etc. Here is what's going to happen, either Phil Steele is going to have to "you-know-what" some more money for Ladd or Mobile WILL LOSE THE SENIOR BOWL then next will be the Dollar General. It will most likely move to Orlando, where there are "mega facilities" and easy to spread out and get some work in. To continue to raise this conference to the top of the Group of Five, we need EVERY school in the conference to continue to build facilities and out pace the rest of the Group of Five. Cannot do it until every conference member has state of the art facilities and can pull those kids in that might otherwise go to CUSA/MAC/AAC. I most certainly have great disdain for USA - I most certainly want this conference to grow. The only way to do that is to build new facilities so that recruits can see what they are getting and where they will be living and playing at. JMHO I couldn’t care less what SoBama or the rest of the Sun Belt does or doesn’t do. I’m just a Troy fan.

Mobile does do a good job and the downtown is a great place for a bowl. The SBC showcases the conference. Yes if USuckA is in it we could be hurt. Their stadium will not be that great if they do it by themselves. But the bowl for a small one is top rate and I doubt Orlando or many other places would be so behind it if it leaves Mobile. Players like winning programs. Let us just do what we do and not worry about USA

However it would be nice for me to only drive 90 minutes to see Troy in a bowl game. After going to that dump of a town called Nawlin's (seems to get worse every time) my wife and I hope we don't go back there anytime soon. Over NO, ready to see us somewhere else. Would love to see the Belt champ have another choice and if we did loose Mobile it would get interesting

You have very limited cognitive thinking skills. Your we thinking so short sighted that I am unsure how are are not tripping over every third step. Explain, rather than just insult. Where would we want the teams in our conference to have terrible facilities? The tide lifts all boats. The better our conference the stronger Troy can and will be. I want to beat the best not a bunch on nobody’s with Junior College facilities. We want the Dollar General bowl to stay in Mobile. It’s close to Troy and it helps out with our image and cred if and when we pack out a bowl game. If DG bowl moves 200 more miles away that will not be good. Regardless, South will build the stadium. They already have equipment on site and are moving dirt. The proposal with the City Council was just to get them involved.

What would help south the most is if Mobilians went to games, they don't. Where the stadium is isn't going to make a difference, not in Mobile, anyway. Mobilians with no children there and don't go to the games were being asked to pay for the stadium.
I don't want to play a bowl game with south insignia everywhere.
I've never understood how more Troy people can't see that south doesn't want to be a rival, they only want Troy out of their way. I mean they would be tickled pink if Troy shut down sports. They have a sense of entitlement that is nauseating. Whatever they do, they can do it on their own.
The Senior Bowl is going to move anyway. As soon as they get to south's stadium they're going to start shopping for something bigger and better.
No one is saying they can't build the stadium, or that they won't build the stadium now. It just won't be done with city money.

In fact, I think it would be cool to walk into USA’s stadium for a bowl with it full of screaming Trojans and we dominate. Rub it in their faces. South is our rival. They do not want Troy to shut down. That is ridiculous and just dumb. I want South good, so when we whip their a$$ in every sport it means something. Having strong rivals makes you better ! Why would you want Troy not to have rivals ? Senior Bowl is not going anywhere. It will move to South’s new stadium once completed.

Let's recruit the Senior Bowl to Troy. And while that may be a long shot I know that our only impediment to that is lack of hotels in Troy.

The Senior Bowl will never move to USA campus and their stadium or any other college campus. They will move it to Wide World of Sports Disney, where indoor and outdoor facilities DWARF that of Mobile and Ladd Pebbles. Watch for that to happen - may already be in the works.

Yep, I've been begging for Troy to get into the Super Six rotation as well. Don't see that happening because of lack of things to do in Troy. If it leaves Mobile I see it moving to a larger city like Orlando, Atlanta etc

Why would you want Troy not to have rivals ? This is not how things work. If they got a brand new $70M on-campus stadium, they would have better facilities than us and get definitely more attention. Recruits would start looking harder at USA. This combined with some decent success would allow them to land even better recruits. All they need is to land the next Jernigan or Pat White (or both!), or some top Mobile area kid who couldn't get into Auburn and not interested in leaving the state of AL. Maybe, a recruit who would otherwise sign with Troy. Being in Mobile with more success and better facilities, USA would probably move to another conference such as AAC or an improved CUSA, eventually stop playing Troy altogether. This would automatically make Troy #5 in AL / UAB is not sleeping either (currently we are the #3 program in AL). Our status would be comparable to Eastern Michigan in MI. So, no I don't want them to get what they want, because this would mean that they could leave us behind in the long run. Looks like it will take them now some more years to build this stadium and they will also build a smaller version of it! Much better deal for us!

Just don’t understand why people believe you are going to make an impact on surpressing the competition. The quicker people realize that others have more advantages than us the quicker you can develop to counter them. I think your philosophy is one of small time thinking, it’s thinking on a lower level. If you want Troy to have the best facilities in a conference and dominate every game you would advocate to go down to I-AA level. If your path to victory is to beat down and surpress your competition rather than lift up your program than you will never succeed. Recruits follow winning. As long as our facilities are on par we will be fine. Now with our our Endzone facility we are good (for now) Just because South get a new stadium doesn’t mean they steal everyone’s recruits and suddenly dominate the SBC. They can only give out 20 something scholarship a year, just like everyone else. Next step: completely reburish the Home side of stadium. After that: Indoor practice.
