By Ben Thomas | bthomas@al.com Sharp-shooting Brantley guard Wesley Person Jr., who scored 55 points in the final game of his high school career at the South Regional final in Dothan, committed to play college basketball at Troy on Thursday night. Person - the son of former NBA and Auburn star Wesley Person Sr. - announced his decision on twitter. He then told AL.com he felt at ease about the choice. Wesley Person shows off the Class 1A Player of the Year Award he won following his junior season. Person is a finalist for the same award this year. (Dennis Victory | preps@al.com) "I feel like it was the right decision for me and my family," Person said. "My mom has been telling me Troy is the right place for me. I fell in love with the coaching staff. It's close to home so I can support my family and they can support me. That's why I chose it." The 6-foot-3 guard averaged 32 points and seven rebounds a game for Brantley as a senior and was named to the Class 1A All-State first team. He was the Class 1A Player of the Year last year and is a finalist for that award again this season. It will be presented later this month in Montgomery. "I think his best basketball is yet to come," Brantley coach Andrew Kilcrease said after Person's Bulldog finale in Dothan. ( Full Article) iconTroy3
