Mark Perry leaves Lexington Catholic as their head coach, to join his friend, Troy University head coach Neal Brown. He's going to be the Director of Football Operations. Back in the day, when he was a walk-on quarterback for UK, I watched Mark Perry and was wondering why he was at UK. It was obvious after watching him in spring ball, that he could be a starting quarterback at a small school. He knew he was never going to play at UK. Perry told me he came to UK because he wanted to become a coach, and it was better not to play, learn more about how to be a coach, then go to one of the smaller schools that recruited him. Today, when we talked on the phone while he was driving to Alabama, Perry remembered the interview and laughed. Neal Brown, who's done a great job as the head coach of Troy, and Perry have been good friends since their days together at UK. They went to each other's weddings and talked about someday coaching together. Link
