Does anyone have a photo of the Trojan Warrior/Princess on the horse "Big Red" that used to ride on the field during the Southland Conference days?
I know this has been brought up a long time ago, but has there ever been mention among the athletic department to bring the Warrior and horse back as a gameday tradition?

Princess on welfare/disability.

They can’t with the field turf which is why she went away. The horse would damage the turf.

Texas A&M-Lubbock had a horse on turf..it wipe out and they have to euthanize it right on spot. That take excitement out of game in a hurry. End conversation.

I liked it, but a warrior princess seemed more appropriate for an Indigo Girls concert rather than a bunch of guys playing football

The athletic department has been offered numerous times horses, chariots, ATV's etc to dress the game day. To date nothing has been accepted

To date nothing has been accepted Except Trojan Force 1 or whatever the goofy airplane was called. We had cannons for a while. I'm down with the band marching around and playing a tune. Make a band tunnel and let the team run through it.

The horse was the symbol of ancient Troy so a horse would be appropriate as a mascot and of course the "Trojan Horse" everyone knows of . In the Iliad, Hector's epithet was "Horse Tamer"
An interesting fact is the "Trojan Horse" is never mentioned in the Iliad. It is in "The Odyssey" and "The Aeneid" as well as other ancient writings.
Also the Romans claimed to be descended from the Trojans so technically Romans were also Trojans.-
