Trying to book the Marriot on Canal St. Hotel has no record of us staying there and Troy when I called doesn't know if there is a group rate like in the past. Has anyone else booked and what rate did they give you. I think the short notice is messing things up

No rooms for the rate on Friday. I called the hotel and Troy first thing this morning. Neither one knew anything. After 10 calls to the hotel I get the info. $493 for two nights. As usual Troy put no planning into this for fans.

It will cost be $800-$1,000 to attend I didn't need to get screwed for $300 for nothing

All the information you could ever want is present. It says the hotel nothing about rate. I was told by someone in the ticket office to wait till Wednesday to book. Not one person knew anything and they even checked and called me. Was told no special rate available

I tried to book this morning and it said no availability. On one hand ... that could mean they set aside too few at the good rate. Of course, maybe we had 1000s people book the last few days! I'm ok with staying in nearby hotel ... have done both at bowls ... but it is cool to be in the team hotel. Hope they can open some more rooms at the good rate!

I guess all the talk on here about people being unhappy about the bowl game lulled you into thinking it wouldn’t fill up fast. However you can still book at the Texas St North hotel for $144. www.neworleansbowl.org/travel/

Yep ... got a couple rooms down the street. What hotel. I'm not paying the rate they want I book at room at Maison Dupuy Hotel via priceline for $148. Not sure if it's still there? Now, I think it may be a non-refundable purchase? Prices have jumped since I first looked yesterday ... I guess they saw some demand?

There is no shortage of Good Hotels in that area for cheaper rates than the team hotel. I get the excitment etc. but there are definitely cheaper places that are just as nice etc. Aloft is a cool place stayed in one recently in Denver and there is one of those in NO I stayed there a few months ago for a U2 concert. Look around, heck look at Groupon, a couple of years ago found a sweet deal at the Roosevelt and stayed there during New Years.

The JW Marriot is basically across the street and offering $129 (+ taxes and fees) a night through the bowl website. I am probably going to book there.

Anywhere in the area between the Superdome and the river around the French Quarter will be a good place to stay. While staying in the team hotel is convenient for getting to TROJAN walk and running into fellow TROJANS in the elevator, it really offers no other advantage. One call always walk to the Marriott and hand out.
One other thing. I can't remember if I've told this story here or not. The '10 NO Bowl was my first trip to NO. We decided, after looking at maps and info at the hotel, to walk to the Dome for the game. The one thing no one pointed out is that as streets cross Canal, their names change. We were on the French Quarter side of Canal walking to the Dome and we couldn't find the cross street that we had determined would take us directly to the Dome . We knew the Dome was only about 3 blocks from Canal and we could see it, so we weren't too concerned. We walked until we were essentially even with the Dome, looked around and realized we were adjacent to the I-10 overpass. We walked the re \maining 3 blocks from Canal to the dome with abandoned warehouses to our left and an elevated I-10 to our right - in the dark. Needless to say, we made great time for those 3 blocks. If you walk, make sure you know which street name you need to find - English on one side of Canal or French on the other. Good times.
