Jim McEwan, Butch Jones, Mike Riley, Jim Mora are all looming for their next firing ESPN announcers... You know some dumb school will hire them. Meanwhile winning small school head coaches and assistant coaches get snubbed

Not going to lie, the Miss State opening makes me more nervous than any of the other available jobs out there. I mean..it is what it is but that's a good fit for state and Neal. If you can win 7-8 games a year there that's success and other larger programs will come knocking i.e. Dan Mullen. Low risk high reward. Hopefully we dodge the Bullet for another year or 2! Go Trojans! Why? Miss St isn't going to hire Neal. His resume doesn't have much on it, no championships, one 10 win season, no consistency after a big win, can't seem to get a team BACK UP for the next game (after a big win) or getting ranked. Don't see Neal being snagged by any of those openings. Now, Les Miles in Starkville? Maybe To your list add the fact that CNB has not even been HC through a 4-year recruiting cycle. His staff has done very well with the last of CLB's recruits.

We are so excited about what CNB's done and the potential he has that we think everyone else is as well. Now don't misunderstand me, he's an up and coming coach who us going to progress beyond TROY, but at this time I think his options would be a larger (not necessarily better) G5 program i.e. East Carolina or a second tier P5 School, i.e Illinois (examples only). I think he'd rather stay here, continue to build his reputation by improving lil ole TROY than take a dead end P5 job. He's not going from TROY to an upper tier P5 this soon. I

Kinda concerned now that Tenn has fumbled into the end zone! Neal's name thrown out by Laura Rutledge today on F-baum....
That might be a player but I think things are in "slow down" mode. Trying to figure out just what in the sam hill they are doing!!!

Kentucky would be a dream job for Neal Brown. Don't see that coming open in the foreseeable future though. Neal knows that there is only one coach in Lexington, and they play indoors, in the winter. Neal left Ky and went and finished at UMass, where he earned his MBA, which,, IMO, makes him what he is. He puts a business model to his program. Institutes processes, with checks and balances with accountability associated with them. His next job will be as a head coach, at a bigger program, where facilities are far and above that of Troy. Unless, of course, he gets our facilities to the next level. Then maybe, just maybe he stays longer than many expect. I hear from GOOD sources that he and his wife really, really love it here. Just built a new mega home. Girls are in school and mom is involved. All those things make it about more than money and fame (or flame out) at a bigger program, at this time. Total gut feeling here but I believe that Neal gets great enjoyment out of building a program and winning championships. He is going nowhere that he doesn't believe he can win a championship on a regular basis. If he focuses on that he will get the big job and the big pay down the road. Look at Saban...Peterson. He's that caliber of a coach and I think he knows it takes time to build his name.

As several have mentioned ... if he leads us to consistent 10+ win seasons ... conference championships ... and at least one "special" 12-0 and New Years bowl, etc. I know he said he believes it's possible here ... and I believe it. I assume he's ambitious and aspires to lead one of the traditionally "big" programs. I think long-term (5-6 year at least) success here can be that route for him. Continuity is big. If he can keep most of the staff together (Vic, Moore, especially) ... there's no reason this can't be a special run for him and us!

Put aside the fact he would be turning down 4 to 5 to 6 million dollars a year, CNB is a very competitive guy, guys like him strive and want (badly) to compete at the highest level. If CNB wins a conference championship or has a 10+ win season next year, he is GONE. And we should be happy for him.

Just enjoying the ride.

FSU fans already talking smack. I have gotten texts saying that 3mil buyout for Brown can be found in the couch cushions at the TKE house in Tallahassee.

Neal is not going to FSWho but FSWho maybe coming to us? In what manner? Now that coach gone FSU may still go to Shreveport and if the league trades us out to go there....crowd really down so ESPN has almost final say ...up to them to try convince Toledo better deal....aka we meet FSU closer to home. All this dependent on if we win tomorrow and FSU administration. Should be an exciting 48 hours....The Jimbo being gone FSU even if wins may turn down bowl

I wouldn't know what to with myself if Troy and FSU played. I was pure Trojan when we played them in '06. But I was a grad student at FSU in 2013 during that magical season. I'm a big 'Nole fan after that. BUT, it would be sad for my Seminoles but I'd be rooting for the Trojans, my FIRST team and frankly the win would be a bigger deal for them. We'd have to listen to a lot of trash talk just like NIU did in the Orange Bowl in 2012.
...
And they're announcing Scott Frost to Nebraska and the game is still in overtime. The move....surprising no one.

UCF job officially open. Which makes me nervous That would be a demotion Top 20 program, salary near $2 million per year and one of the largest on campus enrollments in the country and its in central Florida and a few minutes from Disney world when he has 3 small kids. Unless “demotion” = “perfect opportunity” I’m confused.
