One projection has Troy vs Toledo in the Camellia, another has Troy vs N Illinois in the Dollar General. I'd rather play N Illinois. Better location and better chance of a W. Another 10 win plus season isn't anything to sneeze at.

Ya, I'd be highly surprised if we ever go to Montgomery... Just no money for them.

It would be a home game for us and sold out.

Montgomery is a perfectly fine destination for Troy in a bowl. The game would be sold out and all the non locals would gobble up the overpriced hotels for the weekend. The downtown entertainment district in Montgomery is a pretty good place to party with several thousand of your closest Troy friends.

Fight hard all season to get to a bowl game, and you end of going 45 minutes away from campus to a crap stadium. You would have no fun prior to the game.

Nola is a better party town, but they couldn’t care less about the New Orleans bowl. All their prep is for the sugar bowl.

I had free tickets to the Camellia bowl a couple years ago and they had a nice amount of things on game day prior to the game. It was a fun experience but pretty cold.

Six bowl games are played on the first day of bowl season, December 16. Half of these are three of the four Sun Belt tie ins. Little to no interest nationally no matter the bowl. Three bowl games are played on December 23, one being the prime time in Mobile. Being there begins to separate these teams from the first day crowd and give them more credibility. Our student athletes deserve this. It had a high national audience last year and will have again this year. It's the premier bowl offered thru the Sun Belt at this time. I'm glad we're bowl eligible and hope we go bowling somewhere. I also hope all of us who care enough to be here discussing this have more interest in showcasing our student athletes in the best venue currently available than finding a place to party prior.

In the best case scenario thread it is clearly Mobile for the best bang and is the sole prime time bowl on a Saturday nite and if Toledo there and they and we win out. I know it is a tough date for some but by far the best showcase for University and team.

We must win out and that while not easy will be so much fun and the excitement will then be to showcase on the biggest stage and that will be Mobile even if Toledo not there but if they are this games potential to have over 3 million viewers is a real possibility.

I enjoyed my last trip to the New Orleans Bowl. Say we got Louisiana Tech as some have projected, that would be a decent sized crowd, an evenly matched ball game and all the perks of the big easy. Montgomery is like having one extra home game.

Fans just expeireinced Mobile last year is one factor. Also, the date doesn't allow for many to go early and enjoy the pre-game day festivities (parades, block parties, etc.)

Y’all must be as blind, deaf, crippled, lead-infested as the rooster in your Pike Country backyard that doesn’t have a clue if you believe Montgomery is more fun than Mobile.
Agree with the other posters that going to Montgomery is not that big of a reward than the other bowls when the players get to go out of town.

Also, the date doesn't allow for many to go early and enjoy the pre-game day festivities (parades, block parties, etc.) Date keeps me away altogether, otherwise Mobile would be a great pick to me (we'll talk bowl game ruts after 3 consecutive years of eligiblity). Though I think Orlando beats New Orleans for me. Shorter drive from Georgia and the announcers don't spend the whole game talking about Alabama and the championship game.

If neither of the Louisiana schools get eligible, and App State doesn't fall apart in the last 1/4 of the year. I see it as:
Troy: New Orleans Ark State: Montgomery App State: Mobile Orlando: Ga. State Arizona: NMSU
If App does continue to trend downward, I could see them and Ga. State swapping destinations or Ga. State to MGM and Ark State to Mobile.
