You can't make this stuff up. The following is from Doug Roberson, sportswriter for the Atlanta Journal Constitution: Before the game, we were talking about the arena lights and how they shine right into the eyes of the players near the basket. I didn’t get a chance to ask any of Georgia State’s players if they were affected by the lights.
It appeared so.Several times, including at least once with Washington, the ball hit a Georgia State player right in the hands but bounced away, usually right to a Troy player (another one of the odd things about this game).
That can be explained by visually losing the ball in the lights as you are trying to grab it. Instead of being able to reflexively grab the ball, the ball caroms off unsteady hands.
Again, I have no idea if the lights were an issue but I wouldn’t be surprised if they were on a few occasions.
