And he scored more points than the offense so he is also our leading scorer. Awesome job by him and the defense. Dang......still cant believe we werent even able to score an offensive TD, thats pathetic. 17-33 for 135 yards and 215 total yards offense. Either Boise is the best defense in the country or we have offensive problems. I'm hoping it was just a once this season hapening. We won't know anything from next week. AL St is loosing 7-0 to Tuskeghee in the 3rd

On a different note our future opponent Liberty beat Baylor today. It will be so great when we get a marquee win again. Yes I know Baylor has problems but it still would be nice

Okay...who flipped my calendar back to 2014? 2014.....They would have hung 70 on us. Try 2004, when Fleetwood was the OC, our defense was stellar but our offense was in the sewer.

One thing that hasnt been mentioned is that beautiful pick 6 by Brown, awesome play. Once again he leads the team in interceptions. And he scored more points than the offense so he is also our leading scorer. Awesome job by him and the defense. Bratcher is our leading scorer with 7 points total.

Nah, I was just being melodramatic, but you took the cake...no qualms about the defense, but the O line needs to gel, open more holes, and set the tone. Offense was barely visible when the lights came on... All fixable. There are still a host of goals that can be achieved before the end of the season. Too early for me to abandon ship, though.

The game was the measuring stick we thought it was. We aren't there yet, but we're close. By season's end, I expect we'll be celebrating another 10 win Championship season like we haven't seen since 2000.

Was Jeremy Rowell calling the offense today? With that said: "Never confuse a single defeat for a final defeat." -F. Scott Fitzgerald
Not exactly a stellar day for many teams in the Sunbelt. Almost a whole season with endless possibilities awaits

Congrats to my former OC at Troy coach Willie Slater and the Tuskegee Tigers for their victory over AL State 14-6. With that said if we don't look great next Sat something is wrong. Hopefully this game is a confidence builder but in no way will it show if the problems are fixed. Week three will be the measuring stick

Looking at it in the morning light the O Line penalties are O so clear. We have the talent to route the Belt but we will not do it when we stay 1st and 15 all day. Like Hemi said this can be fixed.
My biggest take away was I was bored. It was a boring game. Yall are right. Wheres Nascar? It was 2 sub par teams playing on ESPNU. Without our Fantastic D its a turn off at halftime game. I am so impressed with Vic and what he has done.
Also, Were the BSU corners better than expected or are our receivers less talented then we expected? Brandon was off all day. We put in Barker and he bust off a 13 yard run and we never try him or any adjustments again? I dont get that.
DT is very frusterated. So, heres to a practice game 9/9. See yall soon.

Left tackle was a huge void. I don't think Rowzee is athletic enough to play left tackle. I think we need to switch him back to guard and move Kelly or Gaston over Whole offense looked very unsure of themselves. Between terrible blocking, penalties and over thrown balls, Troy never good get in sync. What's happen to that "NASCAR" offense we were suppose to run? Even the announcers said pregame that Troy will come out in a hurry without huddling and run a lot of plays quickly"! We spent a ton of the day just standing, looking over at the sideline.....waiting for a play! Do we ever throw deep down the middle? Most of our running plays were simple pitchouts that go sideline to sideline. I dream of a more imaginative offense game plan and play calling. The D line was exceptionally good and the coverage in the SECOND HALF was much better but the offense in general was AWOL and what on earth happened to our Special teams? Good grief! Chunn never got it going yesterday and that was probably the O lines fault. Little blocking and and leadership with penalty after penalty after penalty. Never saw Silvers have such an off game. His throws were all over the place. You really don't expect that from such an experienced QB. I never saw leadership from the offensive side of the ball. Everyone just looked confused. That surprised me more that any other phase of the game. Kicking game looks fine.

Don't care if you are a fifth year senior and four year starter,no player is above the program. Brandon threw for 135 yds and was 17-35. How worse could have Barker or the kid from Pensacola done? Barker should have stayed till he proved he couldn't move the ball. Spread offense is dependent on the qb big time. Totally agree with you on VK. What he has done is nothing short of amazing. If defense wins championships we are in great shape

Kicking game looks fine. Tight coverage gives us problems. Touch throws are not our strong suit and haven't been since Levi. We then resort to the bubble screen raid. I don't understand the no tempo. No valid excuse for it. We have a four year starter at qb, almost all our skill position players back and a OL with a three year starter, a two year starter and the other three saw game action last year. They should know the offense

I know we are not Bama but tight coverage gave them 0 issues last night. That was a big boy football game. Brandon has thrown into and had success in coverage like we saw yeaterday. Sonething has been off with 12 since Arkansas stAte last year IMO. He has played well and won but still off from the 12 I have watched.

You think his injury/surgery had anything to do with it?

You think his injury/surgery had anything to do with it? That was my point and I guess I failed to make it. Something was just not right with his game yesterday. The injury, lack of Spring practice, something was not right but he sure looked unsure, bewildered like he couldn't believe it himself. He's been good in big games before but last years ending and yesterday's beginning leaves you wondering if he's as far along with recouping the injury as we thought. Hopefully it was rust! What concerned me the most was seeing his head down and a laid back unfired up approach. I wanted him to take charge and crawl some butt on those getting penalized and missing blocks. I wanted this senior QB to take charge and insist on better play from the offensive unit, you know, the old "get it together, we can do this" attitude but I saw his head hang and that more than the errant throws concerned me.

We saw Barker but not Sawyer? Sawyer has proven he's better than Barker throwing the ball. Are we trying red shirt him?

We saw Barker but not Sawyer? Sawyer has proven he's better than Barker throwing the ball. Are we trying red shirt him? I believe it was a the case of Barker beating Smith out in Spring/Fall. Barker always had the speed ... he improved his passing as well. I would've liked to have seen him get a few series Saturday. Sure wouldn't have hurt.

Week three will be the measuring stick Before the game, NB said he would be playing a lot of players to see if some that they thought were ready would be able to perform under the lights. Some were; some weren't. Too many green-horns on kick coverage early, but that didn't doom the team to fail. The O line had its moments, but was not cohesive. The chemistry wasn't visible...missed assignments were evident. Not sure if Rowsee has the feet for the Blind-side. I will give the credit to Willis and Henderson...they'll be the gamers we think they'll be. Too much football to be played to mail it in, as a fan, but it's time to stop reading the press clippings and get the offense straightened out.

But Coach Slater's teams have been really strong for the last decade or so. We don't see as much about them because, I believe, they still don't enter the I-AA playoffs ... they play the end of year bowl games for HBCU teams. I know if we don't play better than we did Sat. ... this coming Sat could be long day. Remember, last year against A. Peah or Pea or Pee ... or what ever it is ... it was tight the most of first half.

The only games I can recall him looking this bad was when there was a build-up going in to a game like the early years against so bama. When we played them, he usually laid an egg. This reminded me of one of those games. About the NASCAR, they can't really get into that mode without chaining some 1st downs together. The offense never seems to get that rhythm yesterday. Shout out to the defense that spent most of the day on the field.
