The men’s tennis team picked up a 7-0 win over Alabama A&M on Friday. The win was the first of the season for Trojans in what was Troy’s home opener.
Troy (1-5) lost just one game in two doubles matches. Gabriel Sciacca Dias and Pable Moreno won 8-0 at No. 1 doubles while Tadju Davies and Tommy Cundy won 8-1 at No. 2 doubles.
Alabama A&M (0-3) has just four players on its roster, meaning the Trojans won matches at No. 5 and No. 6 singles by default.
The Trojans won all four of the remaining singles matches in straight sets, dropping just two combined games along the way. Dais at No. 1 and Cundy at No. 4 each picked up 6-0, 6-0 wins.
Moreno won at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-1, while Karen Khachatryan won at No. 3, 6-1, 6-0, to give Troy the shutout out win.
Troy returns to the court in two weeks on Saturday, February 22, when it travels to take on Nicholls State.
