But then again in Street and Smith (college football news..I think) says dumb things like this "The Broncos lost at Air Force ...then to Baylor in the Cactus Bowl...they should put and end the streak on September 2nd when they host Troy at Albertsons Stadium........OR in Athlon they don't have the projected starters up to date.....so take em for what they are...something to talk about and debate now and wait for at least Phil Steeles to come out around late June

That's great! But are we requiring every school to play all sports? I hate having different schools in the conference based on which sport you are playing!

NMSU and Idaho will be removed as football only members but UTA and Little Rock who don't have football programs will remain... Little Rock is a long time member of the sbc.

It's time to move past partial membership!

Only picked second because App State has the easiest conference schedule they could ask for... they avoid Troy and stAte Hey Troy fans! Nothing but respect for the Trojans from this Mountaineer fan. I used to always play with Troy in my NCAA Dynasty. I helped bring quite a few National Titles to Troy! Personally, I was excited to be sharing a conference with you guys after the 2000 playoff clash and due to all that the Trojans have accomplished since making the jump. I was happy for Troy to become the 1st Belt team to ever be ranked, even if it came at App's expense. Also, I'm a big fan of CNB. You guys got a good one. Hopefully you can hang on to him for a few more years. I really think the Sun Belt has some solid coaches but we all know it's difficult to hang on to successful coaches when the Goldman Sachs of college football can swoop in and pay their buyouts with the cash in their back pocket. As for avoiding both Troy and stAte, color me disappointed. One of the main reasons for making the jump was to see better and more competitive teams on our schedule. The easy schedule does give App a clear advantage to win the league and possibly make some noise with regards to the Access Bowl. However, from a pure football standpoint, it sucks not getting to play 2 of the better programs in the conference. I'm hoping Troy will become one of App's rivals outside of GS. I guess this all gets cleared up next season when we go to divisions and conference championship game. Good luck to your program this year. Maybe the conference on the whole can make a lot of noise and get a couple of teams ranked this season. I feel the conference is trending in the right direction

I want to play every year.

This year's App State game was my favorite game. Both schools have a reputation of being able to beat the big money schools. I want to play every year. I believe App's reputation is still getting mileage out of the Big House victory a decade ago. The results from the remainder of our money games leaves a lot to be desired outside of the opening game last season in Rocky Top. Prior to Michigan and after the I-AA split, Weak Forest was the only other FBS team App had wins (6) against. Granted, App played these FBS teams with 22 less scholarships but the Michigan win props up App's reputation. We also tended to play the upper echelon teams of FBS (VA Tech, UGA, UF, Clemson, LSU etc) which makes the task even taller. It would be nice if programs across the conference could get the middle to lower level teams like UK, Vandy, Purdue, Rutgers, KU, Wake etc. on a regular basis to help boost the OOC wins. Fortunately, App rekindles the series with Weak this season and hopefully the Mountaineers do their part for the conference by going 3-1 OOC at a minimum. Really like your match-up against Boise and I'll be pulling hard for the Trojans to set the tone early for our conference. It'll be difficult to replace the production of Junior and Dillard across the DL but that would be a sweet W for the Trojans and Sun Belt. It would also help put media darling Boise and MWC in the backseat.

The trend changed when Sunbelt "lost" the FL-Who's? added App and GaSo; New Mex and Idaho not so much but solely due to geography and travel costs. A more compact Conference footprint and added regional non-conference games, ie; Tulane, Duke, SoMiss, UCF, USF, Vandy, (even a MuTS for memories) and another ACC or SEC or two every now and then builds good regional rivalries and showcases our programs for recruitment, enrollment etc, etc. I also like the Pirates up your way, good for interstate rivalry?? Anyways, welcome to the "Belt", belatedly! 04-cheers
