JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) Tevin Calhoun nabbed a season-high 35 points, including seven 3-pointers in leading Troy to a 98-84 upset of Arkansas State in a conference matchup on Thursday night.
Calhoun shot 11-15 overall while Hunter Williams scored 24 and Antoine Myers added 20 points for the Trojans who made 14 of 27 from long range and 55 percent from the field.
Troy (6-9, 1-2 Sun Belt Conference) scored the first two points in the game and never trailed in building a 54-44 halftime lead. The Trojans upped that lead to as many as 19 points, 81-62, on a Calhoun 3-pointer with 9:19 remaining. It was a breeze to the finish for Troy who outrebounded Arkansas State (9-5, 2-1) 36-24 and gathered 5 more offensive rebounds in the contest.
Kirk Van Slyke managed 27 points for the Red Wolves and Brandon Reed scored 23.
