Does anyone know how many reserved bowl tickets have been purchased at this point? 600-700 so far!

You may be right. I still think it's easier to ask the Trojan faithful to make a day trip to Mobile or Montgomery in late December then asking folks to book plane and hotel accommodations to New Orleans or Orlando just days before Christmas. That aside I think to get respect nationally we have to beat one of these red hot MAC teams. I hope it's Western Michigan because they are already ranked and the only difference between us and them is they beat their one big opponent (Northwestern) but it not them I believe Toledo would also be a good match up. The majority of people aren't going to fly to New Orleans or Orlando that live in the Troy area. I'm pretty sure airiline tickets will be pricey at that time of year. Orlando is only about 75 miles further than New Orleans. The majority of people are probably going to want to spend a day or two soaking up bowl festivities. It's been a while. It's too early to be overly concerned with opponents right now. A lot can happen and change in the next two months. I'm fine with either of those four destinations. Orlando from Troy will be a 7 1/2 hour drive, for me a 1 1/2 hour drive. New Orleans for me is a good 10 hour hard drive. Both have their pluses. New Orleans is a fun trip and Orlando can tie in Disney, Sea World or Universal for fans also. Either one IMO will be a good Bowl and well attended.

Out of 331 votes in our poll 59% prefer N'awlins, 23% prefer Orlando, 11% Montgomery, 7% Mobile.

On a personal note:
If we went to New Orleans, I would bring up to 11
If we went to Orlando, I would bring up to 7
If we went to Montgomery, I would bring 3
If we went to Mobile, it would be me, myself and I

look at it from a student perspective too. not all students who are passionate about troy football have the money or resources to travel to NOLA, only the snobby, uppity ones who leave at halftime do. if its close to troy, it is also rewarding a student base that has been resurrected in their support.

New Orleans and Mobile are just 2 hours away from each other. Unless the folks you are bringing our local to that area ?

I'm pretty sure bus trips would be made available if New Orleans was the destination.

The two times I have followed the Trojans to NoLa, there was cardinal for as far as the eye could see.
Trust me. If Troy goes to New Orleans, the fans AND the students will follow. Currently, you can book a decent downtown hotel in New Orleans for around $100. Four to a room makes that 25 bucks a piece. That's doable on just about any budget.

New Orleans and Orlando are destination locations and others want to make a 4-5 day trip with their families. No excitement from these folks about a weekend trip to Montgomery. The date in Mobile is a killer for most. I'm not even 100% sure I can make it. I normally travel 800-1,000 miles to spend the holidays with family and I have no desire to start driving or flying the next morning on Christmas Eve.

I keep forgetting about the date for the bowl in Mobile.

Granted it was 2010 but the rate for the team hotel, The Marriot on Canal Street was only $89. What a blast 2010 was. Still remember the crowd in the lobby and the band as the team boarded the bus.

That was a good time for sure! I had fun and remember The Sound starting a parade and a sea of cardinal formed a second line behind them.
