This all hinges on the fact that we keep 10 teams in the Sun Belt. After dropping NMSU and Idaho at the conclusion of this season, and adding Coastal Carolina next season, we are at the minimum number the NCAA has approved allowing a Conference Championship game to be played. A lot rides on what the Big 12 does later this month.
Go TROY!

When the Commish was here for the NMSU game, he said Troy would be in the East division with GSU, GSU, App. St and Coastal Carolina... welcome to the SEC West of the Sun Belt!

Even with the Big 12 doing something....this time around CUSA has little or no appeal to teams in the belt...so raiding us is much less likely and doubt the AAC will raid but that is where a potential threat may come

Not a fan of these divisions and championship game. Sun Belt will have 10 teams which means you would play 9 conference games, 1 FCS game and two money games. By playing all teams you earn it on the field. Instead you will have arguably the 5 best teams in the same division. So say Ark St or USA choses to not play App St and GA Southern and get to the championship game while Troy has to play both. Two sides to this for sure.

Not sure we will play 9 conference games during regular season, is that change coming? Also, the conference would likely choose the conference schedule. If we play 8 conference games, I don't think they would allow any team to choose the 1 team they would not play. I am sure consideration would be given for rivalries when they rotate the schedules though.

You don't need 2 money games. They're trying to move the conference, as a whole, to a model that includes: a couple H&H with G5 (peer) conferences, money game, and an FCS home game. It'll basically give you at least 6 home games a season.

Our admin has assured us, we will play 1 money game per year. Nobody is interested in 2. FCS and home and home deals will finish the schedule

Our admin has assured us, we will play 1 money game per year. Nobody is interested in 2. FCS and home and home deals will finish the schedule With some of the power 5 schools paying $1,000,000 to play them you only need one a year. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the championship game but I brought up the fact that seldom does the two best teams play in it. Case in point UF I believe last year? And Iowa last season

If I remember correctly each team will play the 4 other teams in their respective divisions, 4 teams from the opposite division to make 8 conference games, and like has been said a money game, FCS opponent, and 2 Group of 5 home and homes. At least that is the goal. I do agree with troystet that if the divisions are not divided accurately you could potentially not see the best 2 teams from the conference in that championship game. However, it will give us an opportunity for an additional game to showcase TROY.

If that was to occur, my guess is we'd be forced to add UMASS and possibly NMSU back to the fold (as football members only) to get up to a 10 team league, unless another FCS team were given the opportunity to make the jump up to D-1.
Go TROY!

I can see Georgia St maybe but another two that possibly could go are USA and ULL. Both have good baseball and softball programs and Football teams better than Ga St or Texas St.

I think CUSA is more interested in the market area rather than the quality of teams. ACC is more established but they are market driven too.

Most likely to the Big XII is BYU and Houston My sources tell me (not that I have any sources) that it will be Houston and Cincinnati. BYU just brings way too much baggage/rules/religious restrictions..

FIU and FAU PROVED THAT but it can bite you in the butt when it comes to quality of the product on the field. I think that's why we are picking up more Bowl tyins!

Just a few short years ago, Nebraska, Colorado, Texas A&M and Missouri were all in the Big 12. Don't be shocked if Nebraska and maybe Colorado or Missouri want to come back to their old conference. This kid of move would start another domino effect through the country. Just saying....

I may be wrong (I have been before), but I don't see Missouri leaving the SEC to return to the Big Twelve. Their share of the pot o' gold that is the SEC TV and bowl money, will offset many ills they encounter as SEC members.
