Everyone knows it has been a long time coming for a rebirth of the TMTDM...the last 5 years have been painful. Last year was so tough because you could see glimpses of improvement but still so much lacking.
BUT this year. Man I am loving it! Here are a few things I want to point out during a slow bye week:
1. This is a TEAM. They are united, they play for each other. There is leadership. There is excitement on the sideline. All 3 phases are chipping in to win games. There are so many "good vibes" from the players on social media. It's exciting to see that there aren't many egos that are toxic to this team like years past.
2. Coaching. So much more creativity in play calling in all 3 phases. The O - CNB is setting up plays and schemes to have home run plays later. Better execution and ball movement and a real balanced attack on O. The D - flashbacks to the TMTDM of old! Ball hawking, fundamentals, tackling, aggressive, playing controlled, and players actually knowing where to be. Special teams have been the difference maker so far and I hope see more big plays from Frye!CNB overall has great buy in from this team and is doing a heck of a job! I've been so impressed with him and I hope we can keep him a little bit longer!
3. Swagger. This team has a (The HC we don’t speak of) on their shoulder, motivated, confident and focused. They play the whole 60 minutes, and what's scary is I believe they haven't played their best game yet. This team SHOULD win out. I'm hoping we don't have a let down.
4. Maturity. Silvers is putting it together. Love the leadership from Chunn and E. Thompson. Rookard and Co. has good leadership as well on D. More mental toughness from a team that has very few Seniors this year. Better capitalizing on lose balls and passes that hit our hands. I know penalties have been bad, but at least they're not the stupid unsportsmanlike or late hit calls that we seemed to have so often in the past.
What are some things that you see that's making a difference this year?
