I noticed right away it wasn't the same guy. I like our usual announcer. He has more enthusiasm than most of the fans at the game and keeps it rolling along smoothly. Let's face it, for a long time we've needed someone to try and wake up the crowd and get them going. Though I did laugh when the announce pointed out to everyone that it was third down and they suddenly realized they were supposed to cheer/make noise. Other than that amusing moment, the guy this weekend was a bit flat and seemed to struggle. Anyone know what happened to our usual announcer and is he permanently gone or was this just a holiday weekend for him? If I recall correctly, last season the regular announcer missed a few games as well. I hope he will be back.

The crowd was dead most of the game. You could hear crickets on 3rd down. We need a cheerleader or at least a PA who teaches the crowd how and when the cheer. I loved the old guy. This guy is terrible.

This guy is terrible. I think our fans need an education on how to be fans. Instead of looking around and staring at people when they are cheering, maybe they should join in. There's a few in our section that I'm pretty sure are being forced to attend the game at gun point, due to the miserable looks on their faces all game long.

I am all for cheering how one wants to cheer. Up to the individual. But at this point for the program, isn't the goal to maximize "butts in the seats", to fill the stadium ? Yes, it is better if the crowd is active and cheering but I would not advise "instructing" people who are actually showing up in the stadium that they must cheer a certain way. Might drive people away. For example, next to our season tickets we have a husband and wife. Both are die hard supporters of Troy. The wife is a cheerleader in the stands but the husband prefers to watch the game quietly, it's his style. We should not try to make him feel bad or belittle him because he watches the game a certain way.

We need a better pre-game to lead the fans in cheering. Most of the bigger schools we go to do it. There is too much dead time from the time the band makes the T and marches to the helmet and when the team runs out. We need a guy/gal on the field like we have in the basketball games acting as a master of ceremonies for cheering. T-Roy needs some type of chariot or bring the horse back. We are Trojans -- capitalize on that idea and expand on it.

The cheerleaders have started something new this year. They have a microphone/speaker system set up in front of the student section. They are trying to encourage the students to join in the cheers and such (especially when we are on defense). I heard it from across the stadium last week and I'm hoping it grows into something that works. I think that the fans in the end zone feed off the student section and band. I'm hoping it catches on throughout the season. We need everyone to be loud and be proud!! Especially when crApp State and Ark. State visit this fall. GO TROJANS!

These people want to get pissed off over some cheering then someone bring DT84 a fifth of cheap Canadian Mist and a 2 liter of Sprite to the MN St. game.
Been saying it for years. Our fans 95% of them SUCK NATS.

If I remember anything about my time in the student section during Trojan games was that it was not for the easily offended. I used a lot of "colorful" language after "pre-gaming" before heading in. This will last until the microphone picks up someone dropping an F Bomb.

Clarification: A male cheerleader is using the microphone so the students can all cheer the same thing with the cheerleaders and band. It shouldn't pick up any "extras."

Watching Denver vs Carolina, the Bronco fans seem to enjoy the IN-COM-PLETE cheer. I like it as well and hope they bring it back.

My thought is ... we're a DI institution, shouldn't we be able to get someone who's obviously done this before? We're still struggling for a "professional" In-game experience: timing, announcer of course, music on top of the band most of the night. Just awkward ... amateurish overall. I know one of the Strategic plans is to work on this ... so here's hoping they will.

Was it the goal of who ever was in charge of the music to drown out the band? Not only has the administration drained their budget but how this. The band recruits just like the athletic programs do albeit not at the same level. If the band is already playing the board guy should not be playing music.

The increased frequency of Instant Replay on the jumbotron was a nice touch.
