I don't see it happening any time soon, because of the financial situation.

We were assured at the players presentation that "no ifs, ands, or buts" we break ground in June. I wonder what snag happened. The longer the delay, the slimmer the chance of being built for the 2017 season. They have to get shovels in the ground, it's starting to feel like it's still a dream

If they don't get going, more money issues might occur. I would think donors might be getting uneasy.

This process was botched so badly in the beginning, those of us true fans (this board) have become numb to the realness that it may be years away from actually happening. It's seems like a decade now since the original plans were revealed. Hartwell and now McClain have stepped into this project that has been a train wreck and they had/have to get the train back on the tracks as cost continue to rise and the university continues to fund other projects, Adams Admin building and student Rec Center/Sartain demo. I've given up on seeing this building and say we should focus on a pole barn like UAB is about to build. If you have not noticed, UAB will have new facilities before us. That's right, a school with a 6 month, self imposed death penalty will have a new fieldhouse and practice field (with cover) before we do.

Broken promises are reasons people will not give or stop giving. Troy as a whole has got to stop acting like a division 2 or lower program and move forward and at least try to keep up with our conference foes. I'm not a top donor but I can funnel the money I send elsewhere especially with a child 2 years out from starting college. It gets very tiresome seeing the norm happening every year. Yes we have beautiful facilities for academics but we need to work on some athletics. Do we need to pull a Rudy and lay out jerseys on Hawkins desk and say fix it or we walk?

I think everyone is frustrated with the amount of time it's taken to get the project started, much less completed. Fortunately our leadership on the athletic side is much better than it was when this project was unveiled several years back. Sadly the people that botched this project early on have moved on and the people in place now are having to work twice as hard to correct the wrongs as well as getting the project started. For all the praise that Hawkins receives I can't, for the life of me, understand how he let administration back then totally screw up the project in its infancy.

From what I'm hearing the plans are at the city for approval. Not only do we have local government involved, there are phases that also have to approved by the state. As far as UAB we don't have the luxury of getting left overs from a cash rich UA program. It is frustrating to say the least. In the spring we were told that we break ground in June. I'm hoping we get shovels in the ground in July. What is puzzling is why the plans/permits weren't done ahead of the start date?? Hopefully we see dirt move next month. If not, I don't know what to say. I'm confident it gets built but I see no chance now of being in it by the start of the 2017 season. As far as Hawkins, I believe he wants his legacy to be the campus buildings he built and our campuses in Vietnam and China more so than athletics. The university is doing a big enrollment push and that is the focus right now. Facilities to woo students, not so much athletics. The Arena IMO was more for showing students and for graduations than a commitment to win in basketball. Just my opinion on that. I know prospective students get shown the arena on every visit.. Don't get me wrong, it should help our program but there was other reasons it was built also

Want to see an enrollment push go see the University of Kentucky. I know we don't have the same incoming funding as UK. Troy can build all the housing they want. Enrollment goes up when you have more fields of study. I just want to see Troy move forward with being a true D1 institution.

Enrollment goes up when you have more fields of study. I just want to see Troy move forward with being a true D1 institution. Enrollment push has to come from whithin state. I know three counties in the FL panhandle get AL in state tuition but that is still on average close to $80 a hour higher than FL rate although housing is cheaper at Troy. My daughter attends on the Millenium scholarship (full tuition and room and board). There is no way I could have sent her to Troy paying roughly $520 a hour out of state tuition. She is a biomedical science major but Troy does not have the facilities or programs offered at the bigger schools. She has loved her time at Troy but she admits the draw backs. Business and education are first class programs at Troy although your intern possibilities in Business are limited. Troy needs to get its athletics back up which can help enrollment but it also needs to work on certain programs...mainly biology, biomedical, and computer science.
