My point is to be real. Yes, sometimes real life is not all sunshine and flowers. People reading these comments will respect that. And what are you afraid of when you state the truth ? What is different about fans of EVERY other college program forum just like this ? Let me enlighten you, that fans will complain and praise of EVERY SINGLE COLLEGE AND PRO SPORTS TEAM known to man. So if a bunch of students get together and decide to protest an issue on campus (which is their right and as long as they are not harming anyone or anything) DO you shut them down because you don't want the university to look bad in the news or to visitors ? If your so concerned about the image then shut the site down. Problem solved. The more open the discussions both positive and negative the more productive and fruitful the outcome it will be. Nothing positive comes from shutting one side down. Be real. Common sense. Ok, "Saint", I will give you this, I came from a different era and I recognize that's a problem today! I was taught if you had a B**** with someone you didn't go to the corner of town and scream how pathetic you thought they were, or get the newspaper to write your gripe for the world to read, you went face to face with the individual or you kept your mouth shut, but that was another time and place!!. They called it being a "man" but that was before Internet, social media and shows like the Kardashian's removed CLASS from our vocabulary. I'm starting to realize that today's younger generation often use and see no harm in taking their anger. dissatisfactions out over social media. I'll give you this....it's a darn site safer than the old way. Eyeball to eyeball is tough! Always wondered what protest accomplished. I guess after going face to face FIRST hasn't gotten you what you want then that might be the next step. If students feel a need to stand holding signs I'm not one to imply they don't have that right. MLK proved that it has benefits years ago. I'm just saying a man or woman's job is no little issue. Their families depend on it for their livelihood and I just think we need to be respectful of how we as posters handle that. Funny part is, most of us don't work in an environment where the public can critique our every move and publicly denounce us on social media every time they think we failed so we don't know the hurt it brings. Just be considerate was my point! I'm through! Anonymous attacks are the way most of society operates today. Of course they carry very little weight in most people's opinions.

Would anyone out there who doesn't know we have "issues" within the men's basketball program please raise their hand!!! After losing 7 of the last 8 I'm getting prepared for the "Can Um" club to start on coach Smart! Fact that he's playing a flock of kids who were in HIGH SCHOOL this time last year probably won't matter. Hey, I can get as aggravated as the next fan, just ask those who sit around me at games. I've yelled "holly cow, what are y'all doing out there" more that I care to count but this site is a PUBLIC place where everyone reads our thoughts and I just think we owe it to those who's livelihood is at risk to be treated as we would want to be treated IF WE WERE THE ONE ON THAT BENCH! General observations are fine but I think we should be careful of making things personal. I've had to fire folks in my professional life and it never was easy. I think it would be nice if those that "admit/identify/communicate" every negative issue they see might do the same thing for any good they might observe! No issues with me about the MBB program, it's got issues, the administration has been patient and I bet the AD knows that. I just think if I, as a fan, want a coach run off I should call that AD privately, not announce it here for future prospects to read! The AD will take your call! Just MY opinion. Coach Smart isn't in his third season. He is building the right way..through high schools and is back recruiting Florida. I know I defend Florida but there is serious baseball played here and that's a fact. Now in year three the results are like basketball, then that's different. Basketball is out of excuses. We have the facility and he has regressed each season, not improved. The simple fact is he just isn't a head coach. This administration has to decide to fish or cut bait. Year four like this it will be difficult to overcome. He hasn't shown any improvement, don't think year four will be any different we have struggled in our main sports...football, baseball and basketball. At least our other sports such as golf, tennis and soccer have stepped up and performed. Hoping our big three get to that level How has baseball struggled? Troy has finished in the top 3 in the conference standings 5 of the last 8 years including two championships and one runner-up (2015). Also, in one of the years that we did not finish top 3 we won the conference tournament. We also have played in an NCAA Regional Championship game in the last three years. 30 or more wins 6 out of the last 8 years. I believe you have repeatedly indicated that winning is the measure of success (and I agree), so let's give credit where due. The baseball team does not belong on the struggling list!

This years team was made up of 4 freshmen, 5 sophomores, 4 juniors, and 1 senior. Common sense tells me that's a pretty young team.

Ok, struggle was not the right word. Inconsistent would be more correct. We win the conference and then fall off the next season. Baseball has had success but is plagued with some inconsistency but I firmly believe by season three we will say " baseball and regionals" every season. IMO we have the right man in place in baseball

IMO we have the right man in place in baseball I hope I live long enough to see us make Regionals every year and as good of a goal that that is, it's a tad unrealistic to hold them to that in order to say the had a successful year. As to having the right coach in place, oh my, check the records as far back as you wish. Under Lucas when I was there we won the conference 3 of 4 years and was runner up that other year. We went to Regionals our second year but after winning the conference , the university refused to spend the money send us in '64! That's when the old stadium caught fire.......twice!! When Chase took over it was outstanding for years then Bobby has had great teams and went to Regionals and now coach Smart. I think he will fit nicely into that "outstanding coach" group in years to come but he's has to put up the numbers, we can't give that title to him just yet but it's not like we had to find "the right person", they've been there for years. I agree, I think he is the right person to keep us winning though!!

Chase was a scout when I played baseball there for the Cardinals, Yanks or someone. We had three to sign professional contracts out of 15 players and one (I think Troy's first ever), Danny Breeden made it to the big dance for several seasons. Played for the Reds and Cubs if I remember correctly and can you believe it, he IS NOT in Troys Hall of Fame! He is in the BASEBALL hall at Troy. Wonder sometimes what it takes to make the big hall!

Mike Perez (I think that's his name?) isn't either and he played for the Cardinals. Chase had a great eye for talent and we had a lot of guys like Perez and Danny Cox that he got to Troy that were way better than D2 Chase was in the Cardinals organization for years before returning to Troy

Why don't you try being an adult for a change? Sorry, don't like hypocrites. It is strange to me when people call out others for doing something and turn around and do they very thing they railed on others for doing. It is perplexing and sometimes people might not know they are doing it. Thanks.

I keep trying to figure out why a sophisticated, man or the world like yourself would let himself be found in such a hick little town that you seem to think Troy is! If you are incapable of understanding the difference between sharing general opinions on a sport and coaching and making it a personal attack on a player or coach demanding the administration follow your opinions in dealing with them then I can't help you. Now go back to your comic books, adults are talking here!

You sir tried to make a funny and instead made fun of our basketball team ability of the free throw line. I will ask you what you railed on other people for: What good does it serve to make fun of our basketball team inabilities? Please be real. You seem to not like to get caught, look in the mirror and reread your post to yourself.
