This team gave up this season.
Getting annihilated like this tells a lot. Sad.

No excuse for not giving 100%! This program need some evaluating. I understand and accept growing pains and youth. I understand and accept less talent but I don't accept not trying!

If we are sitting in this same position or near the same position for the 3rd year in a row next year will people still be supporting this staff?

If we are sitting in this same position or near the same position for the 3rd year in a row next year will people still be supporting this staff? With a three year record that this staff has (see below), that question is already answered. 11–20 (6-12) 10–19 (5-15) 9–22 (4-16)

They defend mediocrity with a list of the same old excuses. I'm sure every fan of Troy BB is as disappointed as you guys are about our lack of success for three years but life gives you two choices, look at the glass as half full or always look at it as half empty. Having coached a lot of years I understand that change doesn't happen over night so while you give a coach a FAIR period to turn things around many of us look for the positive things to bring to this "table" (excuses if you will) others look for everything they can find wrong to post about. At my age I choose to TRY to find the good! It's not always there I agree but if I got up every morning wondering what can I find wrong at Troy today I think I would just turn over and call it a waste. Yes, something is missing from within this group and I agree, it's Cunningham's job to fix that and he's had three years. All that's documented. I doubt all the complaining or all the b------g in the world won't have one tinkers d--n effect on the decision to keep or fire him THEREFORE from just one old guys point of view, reading good things makes my day better, reading constant complaining gives me gas!!!

Glass half empty- we have a $45,000,000 arena and we are worse than when we played in Sartain. This arena was supposed to change our basketball program, but guess what?? Coaching still matters. Look at our women's team...she's a coach. Cunningham might be a good assistant and decent recruiter but he's not a head coach. Each year he has had a worse record than the year before and worse than Maestri's last year and he was a dinosaur that put no effort into recruiting. Glass half full- we have the finest women's arena and graduation pavilion in the Sun Belt

What I see, is people who would rather root for and encourage their team and coaches in public and reserve the criticism for inside the family discussions. You do realize that most of this forum is open to public view, right?

Regardless if you are half full or half empty, everyone needs to real and have common sense. As long as you have this, people will respect this. Constantly blow sunshine or constantly blow negativity, people won't respect that, plus it's just being phoney.
Now to the people that want to give coaches a decade to build something, they are not being real. This is not 1979. In Basketball 2016, freshman play a lot. Kentucky won a national championship with five of them starting. Basketball can be turned around quickly now. Fact. With the amount of money in the sport and what coaches are getting paid, fact is they need to produce. Regardless, our AD is not going to "wait" around for someone to build something, it's his career on the line too. It will work itself out.

I would like to blow this sunshine into every home of a Trojan fan. It's "glass half full" type stuff, it's for real and a speck of common sense is implied so it's thumbs up from everyone! The past week was a busy one for Troy Athletics with a number of highlights: · Men’s Golf won the 18-team Tiger Invitational, beating #5 Auburn, #25 Kentucky, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, and more. · Baseball beat Auburn and lost a close one to Alabama in front of a record Riddle-Pace crowd (see picture below). · Softball won three of four to improve to 15-5 overall. · Fatima Fernandez Cano was named Sun Belt Women’s Golfer of the Month after winning the Kiawah Spring Classic; Troy finished eighth out of 41 teams. · Women’s Tennis went 2-0 to improve to 8-3 on the year. They earned their first national ranking - #73 – since 2007. · Men’s Tennis won three of four and head to Fort Walton Beach next week. · Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field began their season at South Alabama, winning 10 events and setting a number of personal bests. pbs.twimg.com/media/CdDuvk8WwAE87l2.jpg Additionally, the Football schedule was released for 2016 (see below). We’ll be releasing additional schedule information, such as the Homecoming game selection, in the coming weeks.

The first thing one needs to do in order to fix a problem is admit/identify/communicate you have issues. Not consistently blow sunshine and turn a blind eye. Makes one look, well not good. Think Nero fiddling while Rome burns.

After losing 7 of the last 8 I'm getting prepared for the "Can Um" club to start on coach Smart! Fact that he's playing a flock of kids who were in HIGH SCHOOL this time last year probably won't matter. Hey, I can get as aggravated as the next fan, just ask those who sit around me at games. I've yelled "holly cow, what are y'all doing out there" more that I care to count but this site is a PUBLIC place where everyone reads our thoughts and I just think we owe it to those who's livelihood is at risk to be treated as we would want to be treated IF WE WERE THE ONE ON THAT BENCH! General observations are fine but I think we should be careful of making things personal. I've had to fire folks in my professional life and it never was easy. I think it would be nice if those that "admit/identify/communicate" every negative issue they see might do the same thing for any good they might observe! No issues with me about the MBB program, it's got issues, the administration has been patient and I bet the AD knows that. I just think if I, as a fan, want a coach run off I should call that AD privately, not announce it here for future prospects to read! The AD will take your call! Just MY opinion.

I'm curious, as I've read this thread over the last couple of days, what is to be gained by the continuous complaining about the obvious struggles of the men's basketball team? I'm certain no one is content with this seasons results. Whether it's a coach, player, or fan everyone is frustrated about the poor performance. I have no desire to dwell on the negative. There's not one person or post on here that can change the results. Call me a sunshine pumper, but there are far too many negatives in the everyday world to come to a message board and seek out more. I just don't see the benefits to publically and constantly bashing the university you claim to love while continually ignoring the positives.
Here's to hoping next year is much better. If not, Go Trojans anyway!

What is different about fans of EVERY other college program forum just like this ? Let me enlighten you, that fans will complain and praise of EVERY SINGLE COLLEGE AND PRO SPORTS TEAM known to man. So if a bunch of students get together and decide to protest an issue on campus (which is their right and as long as they are not harming anyone or anything) DO you shut them down because you don't want the university to look bad in the news or to visitors ? If your so concerned about the image then shut the site down. Problem solved. The more open the discussions both positive and negative the more productive and fruitful the outcome it will be. Nothing positive comes from shutting one side down. Be real. Common sense.

Coach Smart isn't in his third season. He is building the right way..through high schools and is back recruiting Florida. I know I defend Florida but there is serious baseball played here and that's a fact. Now in year three the results are like basketball, then that's different. Basketball is out of excuses. We have the facility and he has regressed each season, not improved. The simple fact is he just isn't a head coach. This administration has to decide to fish or cut bait. Year four like this it will be difficult to overcome. He hasn't shown any improvement, don't think year four will be any different we have struggled in our main sports...football, baseball and basketball. At least our other sports such as golf, tennis and soccer have stepped up and performed. Hoping our big three get to that level

Nothing positive comes from shutting one side down. Be real. Common sense. Ok, "Saint", I will give you this, I came from a different era and I recognize that's a problem today! I was taught if you had a B**** with someone you didn't go to the corner of town and scream how pathetic you thought they were, or get the newspaper to write your gripe for the world to read, you went face to face with the individual or you kept your mouth shut, but that was another time and place!!. They called it being a "man" but that was before Internet, social media and shows like the Kardashian's removed CLASS from our vocabulary. I'm starting to realize that today's younger generation often use and see no harm in taking their anger. dissatisfactions out over social media. I'll give you this....it's a darn site safer than the old way. Eyeball to eyeball is tough! Always wondered what protest accomplished. I guess after going face to face FIRST hasn't gotten you what you want then that might be the next step. If students feel a need to stand holding signs I'm not one to imply they don't have that right. MLK proved that it has benefits years ago. I'm just saying a man or woman's job is no little issue. Their families depend on it for their livelihood and I just think we need to be respectful of how we as posters handle that. Funny part is, most of us don't work in an environment where the public can critique our every move and publicly denounce us on social media every time they think we failed so we don't know the hurt it brings. Just be considerate was my point! I'm through!
