Niceville senior, double-double machine Day named Athlete of the WeekPosted Jan. 17, 2016 at 3:00 PM Jessie Day doesn’t tally her stats during a game. Well, she does – just not the stats you’d think. “The only time I know is when I’m missing,” the Niceville senior basketball player said. “I’m thinking, ‘Oh, that’s two points I’ve missed or four points I’ve missed.’ Any close game we lose, all I think about is the ones I missed.” So when she put up 21 points and 24 rebounds Thursday against Fort Walton Beach, she had little idea until the end. This is a great pick up and just shows you don't know what a athlete is looking for. I went to HS with a girl that was a McDonalds All-American, 6"2 , state champs and better than any boy we had and our boys team went to the final 8. Had offers from UF, USF, FSU and others. Chose Valdosta State because she wanted to play at a smaller school. She was a 4 year all GSC and two time d2 all-American and played pro ball overseas. VSU got a once in a lifetime player because they had the guts to ask a player they should never have gotten.

I do understand their recruiting time and money is limited so they have to make choices but no harm in contacts and should they think a great player might pick a Troy type school, turn up the heat!

And she's from Florida! (which automatically makes her superior to every other athlete!)

And she's from Florida! (which automatically makes her superior to every other athlete!) Well, if you must, she is only 30 miles from Alabama in part of Florida that was once part of Alabama so maybe......just maybe the "where's she's from" can be a nonissue. Her points will count just like a gal from Birmingham, or where ever. This coach is getting it right!

Just find it hilarious at all the banter over where a kid is from......or NOT from. Who cares?

Certain poster always says South Florida to me. Evidently geography escapes him. Thus North Central Florida = South Florida
