It took them two weeks after we knew about it to post it:
Posting Date 12/17/2015 Closing Date Open Until Filled Yes
The Assistant Head Football Coach in Athletics is responsible for providing football coaching to tight ends and recruiting in the state of Alabama.
I would think with an OPEN closing date, they will be very slow (intentional) to fill it.
The job responsibilities are interesting considering the number of passes we have thrown to the tight end. I think we threw five passes in 2014 and maybe double that number in 2015 :-)

The will hire whoever they see fit. Those postings on the Troy website are just to comply with state law. I'm sure they already had a short list of candidates prior to that posting.

Anybody ever tell you that you have a "flair for the dramatic"? No wonder you are the unselected leader of the " Troy clique "!!!

Any chance he will be from Key West and pick up 25 athletes on the way up?

I do look forward to hearing who we pick up in that 'open' coaching role and it would be interesting if we actually target our TE's this upcoming season. Go TROY!

Any chance he will be from Key West and pick up 25 athletes on the way up? Nope. We don't play Juco football in Florida. Couldn't resist. Since I'm stereotyped anyway I had to say it. And for the record I haven't said anything about any recruiting this year or the latter part of last year. I've put it to rest, the rest of you should do the same with me. I don't care about Troy recruiting. That's all

They are recruiting central Florida and have made several offers to kids from your area (central Florida) and if the pressure continues that we must win big immediately the only way to help that happen is juco. You can't accomplish that with all HS kids. Development takes time. You can't have it both ways. Recruit HS and allow several years (patient) for success to occur or demand immediate success and go juco and transfers. One of the other. Turning around a football program is more difficult than BB. It takes more developed kids to make it happen. In BB , one or two kids can change a program! Just sayin'!

The recruiting class this year is excellent IMO. They have picked up some very good IN STATE talent and close to Troy. I think this is very good for our program. I will agree with Troystet in that we should recruit Central Florida talent. Many other schools NORTH of Troy do as well and they grab some pretty good ones as well.
With all that being said, recruiting classes with 90% of the players having 2 and 3 stars within a 100 mile radius Troy is GREAT for our program! Go Trojans!

I agree with recruiting in hotbeds no matter the state. My point was if fans demand he win NOW he can't do it with HS kids. I like his mixture. Seems as though he is going into those areas where fans have been upset in the past that we use to not go, central Florida in particular, yet they are getting some good jucos to try to win quicker and that should satisfy the win immediately crowd. If you fall into both crowds (win immediately with only HS) then heaven help trying to please them. Dang, there has to be a place where we become satisfied with one or the other. At 74 all the negativity is not on my bucket list and I have fewer years to see Troy great again than a lot of folks do. I just think common sense says give this guy a chance go do it HIS WAY. It's him we will hold accountable.

Before Coach Crain left, there was a DT coach and a DE coach. Could just be them splitting the responsibilities like it should be...

It would be similar to having a OT coach and a Guard-Center coach. If we can swing it its great. I am am curious as I don't get to watch practices. Do our TE's do drills with the OL? We don't throw to them so I'm guessing they work the OL??? I'm sure they do some receiver drills but their primary function is blocking
