He was named the Opelika-Auburn News All-Area Pitcher of the Year after dominating as the Panthers’ southpaw ace in the playoffs.
He was voted Class 7A Player of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writers Association after he hit .442 with 46 hits and drove in 28 runs while playing first base.
It’s time to make an update.
Newton is now a future Division-I college player.
The senior signed a national letter of intent Wednesday to join the Troy University baseball program.
