That happened from 2010 to get to this point in your opinion?
Did we hold onto LB too long? Not improving facility's enough? Poor recruiting? All of the above?

Yep, yep, & yep. Also like any other conference the rest caught use and left us in the dust.

I think if you step back and look at it in a calm rational manner, you can draw some obvious conclusions. Talent is nowhere near the level it was during our championship run. I think complacency on the part of staff, administration at the time, and the fan base led to the product we see right now. When you start advertising and promising new facilities and upgrades to recruits and five years later you still don't have those facilities the players, fans, and coaches lose faith in your sales pitch. The Steve Dennis pitch was a failure in how it was handled. The upgrades should have never been announced until major donors and pledges had been secured. This would have shortened the time between the project being announced and it's actual completion. I think coaches from the previous staff lost fire with all the unfulfilled promises. Recruits, and potential players lost faith in the upgrades happening during their time on campus. Fans were frustrated with the lack movement on ground breaking. Potential major donors likely were alienated due to not being approached privately, but instead hearing about it in a press release. The same pitch can only work for so long. Neal has a totally different approach and he's getting guys to commit. We need help in a lot of areas and it will likely be year three of the Neal Brown era before we will compete for a conference championship.

Recruiting and no discipline ran the program into the ground...period. LB was lazy at the end. We also gambled on NB and we will see. We could have gotten a proven HC from FCS we chose not to

From Hawkins to Dennis. That allowed the ship to crash into the reef. 2. Admin failure. To allow CLB to utterly drive a potentially Boise St. like situations traitor into the ground. 3. CLB. To continue to drive the plane into the ground and not step aside when he absolutely didn't care to put the time in. 4. The Trojan Nation. For not stepping up when needed after the run. 5. We will see on CNB. 6. I hate losing. It hard

When you start advertising and promising new facilities and upgrades to recruits and five years later you still don't have those facilities the players, fans, and coaches lose faith in your sales pitch. As bad as everyone feels, do NOT forget the senior players and the graduate players who came to Troy because of the winning teams, championships, bowl trips!! Think of the disappointment they have, they BELIEVED this year was going to be different. YES, those 22 - 24 year olds have received a quality education and a lifelong bond with Troy, but they are disappointed also. THEY are why I hurt, I hurt for those who came, stayed, and endured!
When CNB made this statement, “We’re trying to establish a work ethic. We’re trying to establish a culture, and we’ve got work to do,” he said during his postgame press conference. “Is this a tough loss? Absolutely. Am I disappointed? Absolutely. Do I feel for the kids in the locker room? Absolutely. Do I feel for the fans that came and showed out? Absolutely. “Am I discouraged about where we’re going as a program? Absolutely not.”
MAYBE we need to establish a culture of support within this fan base (no matter what happens), strap in, and see where we end up. Those of us still here have survived one heck of a train wreck, plane crash, dumpster fire, etc. that endured for more than four painful years so let us hang in there a few years to get back to where we were!

I'm in for the long haul! Playing Monday Morning Quarterback and bemoaning the coaching hire because "your guy" wasn't hired is a SERIOUS waste of time, something I have better uses for. We (TROY) made a decision and, for the most part, everyone I've spoken to are happy with the hire and understand the climb. Others (on this board and elsewhere) want to play, "I told you so", or " see, we I told you so" CRAP! We have a REDSHIRT SOPHMORE as our QB that is hurt. If yesterday did ANYTHING it proved that Silvers is, BY FAR, our best option. It was apparent, to me at least, that our other QBs look "good" in limited situations (see Pruitt vs MSU or Tidwell yesterday) but with a full game plan to prepare for, there seems to be some shortfalls/pitfalls. This was suppose to be Luke Barnes senior year at QB. Anyone remember him? Broke every record Danny Wuerffel set in high school. Kid was awesome and was our future at QB. Instead, he washes out (at Juco where he broke EVERY JUCO passing record imaginable) but never gets back to Troy. Who's fault is that? HIS! That setback has stalled our QB progression but we will get back on track. We are 6-8 scholarships short of 85 (due to the culling out the bad seeds, or whatever) and we JUST DONT HAVE THE DEPTH, yet, to be where we need to be. Stay the course, coaches, players, staff, faculty and FANS/SUPPORTERS/BOOSTER (whatever you call yourself). By NOT doing so keeps you on the side of pessimism and I prefer to stand on the side of optimism. With the understanding that we won't rebuild this in one season! Might take two or even three, I'm willing to holdout that long, are you?
