Troy Mayor Jason Reeves made two big announcements in a news conference Monday afternoon, including plans to open a long-awaited Publix grocery store. Publix has signed a lease to open a 45,600-square-foot store at the current location of the Hillside Mobile Home Park. According to the city, the mobile home park will work with current residents to find new places to live, and they will have time to make plans to move. There will also be 12 adjacent stores as part of this $10 million shopping center. Renderings of the Publix show the outside design will use Troy University colors. A groundbreaking will be held in January, and the store will be open by February 2017. www.wsfa.com/story/28733351/publix-major-road-project-coming-to-troy

Huge news... Couldn't be more happy with this and I don't even live in Troy. But I will be going there for my tailgate needs. This should bring more business to town and maybe a hotel or two.
Walmart best step up their game. Publix don't mess around when it comes to customer service

I want to know exactly where this center will be. The newspaper article was vague and when I tweeted the writer, I got more of the same.
Doesn't Troy have enough half-empty centers, former homes to grocery chains, that Publix could rebuild?

So, a road will continue Wallace Drive across into a new center behind all those small stores? Won't that affect its visibility from U.S. 231?

The trailer park will go away and be replaced by Publix and whatever other follow-on stores locate there. Both Wallace and Franklin will be extended out ending at Oak Park and The Rec Center.

Dozier is safe I believe. But whatever is behind Popeyes and AT&T will be history.

Apparently, the trailer park behind Popeyes is also called (or owned by) Dozier. I always thought Dozier was next to the Hampton Inn.
I still find it odd that Publix will be behind a bunch of old small businesses and even that Yamaha place. There is some sort of junk yard behind Yamaha that wouldn't mess well with Publix'so squeaky clean image.

I could not be happier about the future economy of this great city. The Publix deal is obviously HUGE, but the new roads are what really make this deal. I am one of those who live "on the other side of town." We will be connected to the rest of Troy now with a simple cut through road and my prediction is, the growth from those roads will be GIGANTIC! Can't wait for this ball to get rolling. Proud to be a business owner in Troy.
