Should be an exciting season under our new head coach. Checked out the campus pretty well this weekend. I like the atmosphere. A lot different than Memphis where I graduated. We are gonna catch a baseball game soon. We are a little under 2 hours away so I am gonna get season tix. Looking forward to learning the traditions. Nice town too. Very friendly

If you plan to overnight on football weekends, check local motel rates and requirements closely.. reserve space early but most play that tricky 2-night minimum game. Many folks on the board here have become creative with housing for football game weekends. Welcome to Trojan Territory daddy (mommy?)!!!!

im the dad and we live in auburn. she doesnt wanna go to auburn because she has lived here her whole life. wants to get away, do her own thing. i said no to south alabama, north alabama, uab etc. i told her i was in good with troy, auburn, montevallo or bama (and a few private schools). We also thought about miss state (go figure). I dont want her too far away and honestly really dont want her to go to bama. i havent leaned on her too hard though, she came to troy on here own. i have family members that have either graduated or are currently going to bama, auburn, north alabama and birmingham southern.
troy has really been good to her and made her feel welcome. i like the small town atmosphere and the university life (at least on the surface) appears to be slower. i went to school in memphis for the the very opposite reason, i grew up in a town like troy and wanted to live in a city. i dont really have anything against her going to memphis other than its just further away than i want her to be from me.
anyway, the only reason i am even mentioning any of the stuff above is to let you know how we came to troy through the selection process. im looking forward to going to gamese in a college football atmosphere. i havent been to an auburn game in a couple of years, its just too much. its an overdone circus. i have a brother that graduated from app state. the troy atmosphere seems similar and we had a great time up there.
im a big college football fan so im looking forward to seeing some games. i know troy has had a tough go of it lately. One thing about being a memphis alum is that i am hardened to tough times (despite the recent flicker of success). so win or lose its gonna be fun and i will be pulling for the trojans.
thanks for welcoming me, gonna stay outa yalls way now and start learning some troy football.

It's a quick jump from Troy, has great rates, and is clean. Good choice when traveling on a budget and the staff there remembers us from season to season.

1) Welcome to the family...dysfunctional, yes, but a family no less
2) There is no reason for you to "get out of our way". You are welcome any time, the more participants, the merrier
3) I would like you to clarify your comments regarding the "small town" environment factoring in your/your daughter's decision to make TROY home. Surely I misunderstood you, because according to many on this board, that very atmosphere and accompanying lack of non school related extracurricular activities is a primary reason we've not been as successful as some of our conference mates when it comes to recruiting. NOBODY wants to come to lil ol' TROY. (I have to develop that sarcasm font)
Again, welcome.

Redwaver, I don't want you to be disillusioned. Speaking as one who resides on the north side of the half century mark, we're closer in age than you think. While I'll refrain from calling you old, I'm old and own it.
