Last nights game proved that "old school" football is still alive and well. Discipline (sound fundamentals) dedication and commitment (Ohio States basic offensive game plan of wearing you down and a solid defense) should prove to the naysayers that the "modern football" schemes, as good as they are, STILL must accept that the fact that the basics of sound "old school" football is a force to be dealt with and has a HUGE place in all styles of the game! Including "modern" styles !!! JMHO!

Don't understand, OSU run the same read option attack as Oregon??? Now, 6'5", 260 pound quarterbacks with riffle arms are a bit more hard to come by. But scheme wise, I saw very few differences.

The biggest difference was state's defense. I think that game will be studied by all to understand how to stop that offense. It also was a huge factor that Mariota's favorite playmaker was suspended.

Dropped passes, missed opportunities and Red Zone inefficiency, hmmmm, looked familiar.
Also, Give Zeke Elliott his credit, but the OSU OLIne was the best I've witnessed in a loooooooong time.

The play that killed Oregon all night looks like the read option, but it was a designed run with the offside OG and an H-Back leading a power play. It was smash mouth football. It would have been no different had OSU lined up in the I and ran a counter to the TB behind the FB with the offside OG pulling.

Wait and see what OSU is in five years. Same formula Myer used at Florida. Won championship right away with another coaches recruits, won second with thugs he recruited, bailed out and left program bare and with problems. Myer talks his discipline but his off field problems prove other wise.

I think every team in America would want a 1-2 punch of a bruising RB and a 6'5" 250 pound QB. I don't recall seeing huge QBs back in the "old school" days.

before "bigbrotha" moves it... I hope Troy can get in gear like we saw last night. A fast paced offense would be great to see again. That coupled with Coach K's defense... we'll be great once again. (now it's about troy football)

Even if I did move it, would it stop you from posting to it? Think about it and get back to me...k?

Some of our community acts as if the football forum is the only place you're allowed to share your thoughts...or either they have problems navigating the site. If you need help getting to other areas of the site, you need only ask. How does this address Troy football? Keep it on topic! I brought this thread to discussing Troy football and the board Nazi gets all sensitive and doesn't address my point on Troy returning to the fast-paced offense we once knew. Poor BigBrotha, gets a little always watching, always ready to move a thread. But then thread gets on topic OH NO! So, BigBrotha, do you have any thoughts on Neal Brown and Trojan offense? Or do you not care to contribute to the FOOTBALL conversation?

Can this thread be moved to general conversation, since it has nothing to do with Troy, please. Thanks.
