Just saw on twitter that UAB CB Lamarcus Farmer will play for Troy. He was listed as a starter at one of the CB positions.

3 year starter here. I would expect he'll get significant playing time at Troy.

Good pick up. South Alabama has picked at least half of UAB's starting offense...wide receiver, QB, tight end, linemen etc.

This might even backfire on them. Too many transfers from the same school who played for the same OC last year. Maybe a potential Malzahn/Springdale kids Arkansas situation. This could change the dynamic within the team, group formings, etc.

You do have to be careful with bringing in to many, especially if they are seniors. That leaves only one year to learn your system and bond with your teammates. After that you are back to square one. Makes more sense to go after Freshman to juniors imo.

Do the UAB transfers count against any of the signing numbers for the year? I know they would count against the 85 total but not DURE how it works with in year transfers

I know they would count against the 85 total but not DURE how it works with in year transfers The NCAA has removed all the typical restrictions for UAB players. They can transfer to any school, play immediately and NOT count towards the 85.

They definitely count...... My understanding was that we were hosting "several" UAB players. Is this fellow the only offer we extended or do we have others considering an offer and is their deadline to commit the same as the other athletes? Also, how many more scholarship fo we have available?

Coach Brown's comments to media was that we offered a few players with primary objective to fill defensive needs....

I'm glad to hear that we got at least one. Obviously getting some of their talent was on a lot of our minds from the moment we heard the program was unfortunately being shuttered. This first year is going to be tough anyway, and bringing in some experienced guys who've had some success can't hurt. Good point about USA maybe bringing in too many. The USA and GaSo home games are the two big circles on home games I want to absolutely make next year, time permitting.
I sure wish we could have gotten that RB who went to Indiana, but obviously he's a really talented guy, to the point I was surprised he didn't want to go somewhere other than Indiana. From what I read he went there in the hopes of achieving some personal bests, but he had to know, 2,000 yards rushing or not, they are not going to be contenders.

Apparently, he has family in Indiana...

I didn't hear that. That's definitely a finger on the scale for a lot of us. I had read it was solely about trying to have Tevin Coleman-like production.
