Does that sit out year count against eligibility or does it just mean a year of down time?

Does that sit out year count against eligibility or does it just mean a year of down time? If he hasn't red shirted he can red shirt, if not it goes against eligibility. That is why guys in their junior year will transfer to FCS because they can play immediately

I suggested in the QB Competition thread not knowing this until now, that this was a HUGE possibility. Was redshirted already, either way lateral transfer I believe requires a year to sit, unless you go down or have graduated. This could get interesting.

My understanding is you sit out one year but do not lose any eligibility. Has that changed? I've seen seniors change, sit out them play so can't they still do that. The kid a few years ago at Oragon to Ole Miss is my example.

My understanding and I could be wrong, if you move laterally (meaning you move from D1 to a D1 school) you must sit out a year unless you have graduated. Once you graduate (OL player that came to us from Ole Miss this year) you do not have to sit out a year. If you go D1 down to D1AA or lower, you do not have to sit out a year. That year you sit out counts as one of your 4 (or 5 years if redshirted). Seeing a QB from Kentucky come with him, would be normal and already knows the system, would just sit out this next year and start the next. Kids from Oregon to Ole Miss had already graduated I believe and name was Masola if same one your talking about.
