Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how the search process unfolded? Did the decision makers interview only candidates who contacted TROY about the job? Did the university persue anyone? Was there a mixture of these type candidates on the "short list". At this point and in the grand scheme of things it probably doesn't matter, but if NB wanted the job enough to initiate the contact, that says a lot.

The more I have thought on this the more NB makes sense. He knows the challenges of Troy and has recruited here. Also he will have connections in Texas and the KY, OH, TN area which can only help

This is like any other corporate job. Troy put out a " help needed" sign and coaching reps contacted Troy with their candidates interest. Pretty sure that's how it went down. Or somebody is lying to somebody.

Why approach someone that didn't apply? They obviously didn't want to be here. Not all that applied were interviewed.

Just because they did not apply does not mean you don't ask

Just because they did not apply does not mean you don't ask I think if they are under contract to another team it does!!! You might contact their agent though, I'm not sure.

Hopefully, the interview list will get disclosed in the next few days......I definitely agree that approaching potential coaches is in line......Happens all the time in the business and education fields...........

What does it matter who interviewed? We got our man, now we want to know who we didn't hire? So we, on the board, can complain about this or that? Not sure it does any good to know the, not good enough to make it list!"

I don't think you should count on a list of "also ran" candidates being released. Other than satisfying your personal curiosity, what possible good comes from that. I sure can't recall such an action in any other coaching search (I pay attention to such sometimes) ever doing that.

We got our #1 choice. That's all that matters.

Coach addressed in his speech this very issue. He contacted TROY in October saying he wanted the job. He WANTED to come back. That's important, at least I think so.
