I don't know why we are still talking about Orgeron. We won't come to TROY. So, this idea of him here is getting annoying.

I feel bad for the coaches who have taken that program to a level it has not seen in a while. The administration is dropping the ball by not shutting down the rumors, how do you recruit a kid when all he sees in the papers is this garbage. Paul Bryant, Jr. is to blame for this mess. I agree. I would be pissed as hell if this situation was on Troy. Heck UAB AD isn't even saying anything! But with that said I won't cry much over not going to that dump stadium every other year. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why the bammer bigwigs see UAB athletics a such a threat, but they obviously do!

It's going to take a coach who is Wanting to prove something to take over this train wreck. Orgeron wants a big school. If we get him great but I don't see it happening.

Working In Birmingham, this has got the base group more fired up than they have been in years. This combined with their love for their new coach and team doing better this year. Tough sale to convert UAB alumni who was raised either Alabama or Auburn, primarily, (like it is at Troy), but I do feel like UAB appears to be trying harder than ever to convert them.
I would love to have Clark, only based on interviews I see on our local news here, and what I hear second hand from others what a great guy he is and he invest in his players, with that being said, even if Troy entertained hiring him, would we not have to buy his current contract out, and that would hard to afford?

Troy should gage Clarks interest in the Troy job. I would be a little concerned if I was Clark about my job security after 2016 if a bigger program hasn't snatched him up by then.. And even still recruiting just got that much harder at UAB with this situation. He better get out now! If I were him I would jump on the Trojan train to Troy. Who do you want? Clark or Orgeron? You've heard of the dual quarterback system right? Co-Coaches. Can't go wrong with that.

Clark Kent is a humongous douche. Steve Rodgers (Cap'n America) will teach the team to never quit and never play scared against P5 opponents. Sorry, your post brought out the geekiness in me.

This already IS an off-season. Once the coach is announced this board will light up like we have never seen before. Off season should be fun discussing the future....I hope lol

At the moment, I find myself eagerly anticipating an ending. I wish that weren't true.

I know one of UAB's football coaches and he doesn't appear to know anything about how this going to turn out, one way or the other.

I know one of UAB's football coaches and he doesn't appear to know anything about how this going to turn out, one way or the other. Nope. They've been told NOTHING. A former player talked to Mackin shortly at last week's game and said "Give me something to make me believe in you. Tell me UAB Football is not going to be dropped." Mackin replied, "I can't do that." I'll be a Troy season ticket holder if the BOT shuts us down and Clark heads down that way. Screw the BOT.

We'd certainly welcome you to the fold, but I sincerely hope that UAB football doesn't go away. I enjoy playing the Blazers in football. Not this year so much, but I do enjoy the rivalry.

UAB football shutting down doesn't spell positive news for Troy or USA. Several USA fans have voiced the opinion that it would be good for them regarding recruiting. The reality is that it will make every G5 university look at their football and athletic programs and consider the "fiscal responsibility" tied to propping up ever-inflating budgets for the sake of sports. When the NCAA agrees to allow student-athlete stipends in the $5,000 range for all scholarship athletes, you are looking at even more schools reconsidering extravagant salaries, facilities, and budgets.
Troy has tradition and decades of history and athletic alumni on its side concerning football, but realize G5 schools are now fighting an increasingly uphill battle with the new playoff system in place and more opportunities to watch at home instead of buying a ticket.
My hope is UAB garners enough support to keep football... the programs not named UA or AU should hope the same as well.
