Perhaps get ourselves a QB and left tackle while we are at it.

Future QB coach Nelson Muntz! Flanders could serve as team chaplain From all the off field problems they have, they could use him

Flanders could serve as team chaplain From all the off field problems they have, they could use him In the current status of Troy's locker room, they would tar and feather ole Ned Flanders.

I'm curious as to if we even have a team chaplain. One of the best things you can have. I have two former teammates doing this, Reggie Hutchins at FAMU and Derrick Moore at Georgia Tech. And if you want yo see Derrick, look up his pre-game speech he gave before Tech beat Miami....Wow!! Is all I can say.

Yes Lonnie Cochran is our chaplain. We used to be under the umbrella of FCA and Lonnie was the champlain then too.... now he is simply under Troy University

We used to be under the umbrella of FCA and Lonnie was the champlain then too.... now he is simply under Troy University Correct me if I'm wrong but if he is under "Troy" that limits what he can do as via FCA. The seperation of church and state nonsense. I could be wrong but I don't see how a state school can have a religious position. I am sure he is given a different title but I would assume it limits him on what he can say or do.

I do have some experience in this as I volunteered as a FCA chaplain at a local hs here from 2005-2008. There was a tremendous amount of hoops to jump through to get the school to approve it. Fortunately the HC was a great man and fully supported it and was behind it 100%. I had free access to the players on game day and at practice. Many asked me to pray for them. It was a very rewarding experience. Not saying I was responsible but during that time this team went to the final 4 twice and won districts every year. We had zero off field problems. It helped having someone the players could talk to and give sound advice to. And Hemiman I got to be around a future Pittsburgh Steeler on that team, Cortez Allen. Great, great kid.
My point was I hope we didn't limit things that could be done by taking off the protection of FCA and going under a more restrictive University position.

I met an old guy who had been Troy's chaplain back in the 60s and maybe 70s. This was around 1993. It was from him that I learned that Billy Atkins had died in Texas maybe a year before.
After learning where he was from, I asked about a beautiful young lady I once knew. It turned out he knew her well and had baptized her. From him I got the idea that all the old football players kept up with each other and with the coaches, trainer etc.
