Looked at the site. A lot of flights but I would assume flights come in for Sikorsky, Lockeed, Walmart and the University. Did you see a flight or flights that raise suspicion?

I've been thinking about this committee. To me it suggests that Troy is looking for a bargain instead of a proven winner.

Difference in a proven winner and a SEC assistant ( that I believe we will hire . A proven winner is a HC that has proven he can lead and win. A asst. Is someone who served under a coach who won. Big difference.

FBS football is not the league to take chances on finding a diamond in the rough. You can't hire with a division 2 mindset and salary and expect to be successful. Troy University should desire to be the best at everything and if we play FBS football, then our goal should be to win a national championship. There are two other universities in this state that have those expectations. If we are an aw shucks we are just little Troy then don't play with the big boys. I bet Jack wants FBS enrolment numbers with D2 athletic costs. Over the last few seasons, we are learning that doesn't work.

We know we suck and we are making a change. We can make a change to win or make a change to suck like Georgia Southern sucks. Orgeron or bust in my opinion.

Whispers from inside Troy city hall and a couple of the banks is welcome Chizick. Way better options than Chizik. Maybe some misdirection ? Plus isn't he getting paid millions of dollars not to coach ? And that money goes away if he accepts a job ? Doesn't seem Chizik makes sense

Kevin Scarbinsky on Chizik: "Bottom line: Chizik failed in terms of player discipline and player development. He failed in replacing valuable assistant coaches from Malzahn to defensive line coach Tracy Rocker. He failed to either spot the problems in his program or to adequately address them. At the end of his tenure, Chizik is what a lot of people thought he was when Auburn hired him with his 5-19 record from Iowa State. Nick Saban did eat him for breakfast, but Chizik himself set the table for his own dismissal." www.al.com/auburnfootball/index.ssf/2012/11/scarbinsky_gene_chizik_set_the.html#incart_m-rpt-1

Maybe I'm crazy but I refuse to dog any choice by Hartwell until I see results. I trust Hartwell to make the right hire. I don't have a clue what we need. All I know is what I want. I want someone who can recruit, coach, and win. I don't care where he comes from, what division he has coached in, what experience he has, or anything else. I just want someone who will win at Troy. That will bring excitement. Can't wait till the announcement.
Go Trojans!

Answers.com ranked the 10 worst hires during the BCS Era, and five former SEC coaches made the cut:
Ron Zook (Florida, Illinois) Gene Chizik (Iowa State, Auburn) Tim Brewster (Minnesota) Lane Kiffin (Tennessee, USC) Derek Dooley (Tennessee) Charlie Weis (Notre Dame, Kansas) Mike Stoops (Arizona) John L. Smith (Michigan State, Arkansas) Bill Callahan (Nebraska) Dan Hawkins (Colorado) Here are a few blips about each coach, according to Answers.com:
Ron Zook: “Zook took over for the legendary Steve Spurrier at Florida in 2002. 3 mediocre years later and The Zooker was banished to Illinois.”
Gene Chizik: “He won just 5 games in 2 seasons in Ames, but somehow suckered Auburn into hiring him in 2009 after firing Tommy Tuberville. In year 2, Chizik piggy backed off Cam Newton’s talents and won a national title. He was fired 2 years later after Auburn discovered the 2009 season was merely a fluke.”

Follow examples of others namely the top two in our conference right now, Southern and ULL. Great assistants don't always make good HC...proven HC makes good HC

Have you guys taken a look at Ron Roberts from SE Louisiana or Russ Huesman from Ut-Chattanooga? Both are proven winners as head coaches who are recruiting some of the same territory as Troy.
