There is still hope to win a Sun Belt title. I know I have sometimes been negative on here occasionally, especially after the team's loss to Abilene Christian, but check this out:
WKU, in 2011, started out 0-4 after losing to Kentucky, getting beat by Navy 40-14, and then getting demolished by Indiana State (an FCS team) 44-16 in front of their home crowd. The following game, they lost to Arkansas State, giving them their fourth straight loss. WKU only averaged 13 points per game and gave up 31 points per game to opposing teams.
WKU went 7-1 after that. They racked up 28 points per game in their last 8 games and only gave up 21 points per game to their opponents... they even posted a shutout in that span. WKU defeated Louisiana and FIU, both of which went to bowl games.
Against all odds and against everything the fan base and media said about the Hilltoppers, they went on to finish that season 7-5 and finished 2nd place in the Sun Belt behind an Arkansas State team that received Top 25 votes in the Final Coaches Poll. The Hilltoppers didn't make it to a bowl game, but there were only two bowl tie-ins for the Sun Belt back then. We now have three, one of which is in Montgomery that would love to have Troy make it.
If this team will come together and do everything they can to improve and truly fight on, they will have a chance to win the Sun Belt title or go to a bowl game... or both. If WKU can do it, Troy can do it. Some of the other Sun Belt teams aren't doing as well this year... now is the time for this team to get their armor on and put the sword to all of our remaining opponents. Georgia will be very tough, but Troy is tough too. The Trojans can try and make a statement to them and the rest of the football world that they will not bow in the face of adversity. Take the fight to Georgia and get physical with those guys! Show them and every team that remains ahead of you what real Troy football is all about.
To all the fans: Let's be positive and show immense support to these guys in the games ahead. Put away the gossip about any players and let's rally behind these Men of Troy! TroyStateTrojans8

Is Willie Taggert coaching us? But I guess anything is possible facebookthumbup I was never convinced that Willie Taggert was a great coach. Even at South Florida, he hasn't been impressive so far. But that 2011 team did something special, even when the Hilltopper fans were calling for coaches to be fired and players to be moved to second string.

ImI'm looking forward to seeing what kind of awesome plays Pruitt can make for an entire game against a team like Georgia.
I believe he is going to show up and show out.

Winning is a self-fulfilling prophecy, as is losing...the negativity has to be transformed into a positive mindset...I believe, If the O line can give him time, DP will channel his inner Haugabook Saturday...#BeatUGA

And he has done it on every level so far. Can't wait to see if he does it Saturday. All it may take is an opportunity.

I don't make the practices like a few of the guys here, but I do follow recruiting quite a bit. I like what I've seen and heard from the young man and I don't see any "back up" in him. I think he puts himself at 1A after the next 2 weeks...certainly that's just my opinion...

I do think he has much better records and stats coming in than Omar, but Omar was thicker. He looked more like a linebacker or tailback. DP can fly!

I heard an interesting point on DP, that he had all the skill sets y'all describe but yet he couldn't beat out Silvers for the clear #1 spot.
But yea he'll have the ultimate stage to make the ultimate statement this week, for sure.

But yea he'll have the ultimate stage to make the ultimate statement this week, for sure. The fact that it was neck and neck between Silvers and Pruitt after spring practice says a lot. Pruitt had two weeks to learn the offense after sitting out one week of spring ball. Silvers had a grayshirt year and a redshirt year and only beat Pruitt by a few percentage points. Based purely on personal preference, I feel better when Pruitt's in the game. Seems like the offense has more energy when he's in. Just an observation, not a condemnation of Silvers.

Seems like the offense has more energy when he's in. Just an observation, not a condemnation of Silvers. I feel the same way. The offense seems to have a better pace and a higher energy with Pruitt. Despite Silvers being named the starter, I feel like Pruitt is the better overall QB... scrambling and passing. Silvers still seems to lock onto certain receivers and hasn't quite developed a good touch. But that's no knock on him... he's just a freshman. I think he will be a big-time QB with a little more time. There's just something that Pruitt has that makes me feel like there is a lot of big-play potential. He is a JC National Champion after all. He also took his high school to the Mississippi State Championship........ just sayin'.

Silvers and, for that matter, DT have been here far longer than this guy...He has a ring outside of HS, which is pretty impressive. It says a lot about him to be in the conversation for PT having to come in and learn what guys that have been here for 2+ years had to learn...I just want them to be successful so I can brag on them again... icon_beavisnbutthead
