In 1997 we had a converted wide receiver named Mareno Philyaw playing QB, because we had NO ONE else. We had a 5-6 record, two years after being undefeated. We went to San Marcos, TX on a Thursday night and got spanked on TV to a SW Texas team we should have beaten like a drum. That season, and all it's putridness, has always been what I considered the low point in TROY football history, at least for the past 20 years. That is no longer the case. We are terrible. From overall approach, to specific play calls (a swing pass behind the line when down 10, with one timeout and <a minute to play, are you kidding me) to execution and on field discipline, we are just terrible.
It's not the end of the world, the sun will come up tomorrow (and if it doesn't it won't be because of how this football season is progressing), and there are more important issues in the world. After all, it's just a game. That said, it's a game we were once good at. Not any more. We stink and I'm afraid this season will become our new low point.
That being said, GO TROY, and I'll see you all at homecoming...I'm not giving up.

The previous low point for me was the 70-7 loss to Montana (LB at half time: "I don't know! You got any ideas!"). Then the Grizzlies went on to have their butts handed to them by Chad Pennington and Randy Moss (Marshall) in the NC game. However, this season could very well surpass that.

That was a tough loss, but Montana is a fairly hostile home field, their team was used to playing on that ice rink they called a "field".

I think it is a tie as far as low points, both from last night: either when our two receivers ran into each other and knocked each other down and the ball sailed between them or the pass interference call on the fake punt!

A punt that went minus 7 yards during the 1982 Homecoming game versus Livingston was pretty low. I think were 1-9 that year.
