This isn't a Sound Of The Wiregrass Forum. He should have had his rear end in the locker room. His actions show that their is loss of control with the coaches. He obviously wasn't afraid of being disciplined. Go with your team #31 Disciplined? LB isn't familiar with that term . You might want to explain it to him

As a former member of SOTS, I wanted the team to come celebrate, no matter the outcome. We had to start practice at 9 or earlier, warm up at 2, Trojan Walk at 3:30 then cheer on the team no matter how good they did and then we got no recognition....it really made me wonder if the team cared if we were there or not. My daughters thoughts exactly

Jesus!!! Some people can find something negative about everything!!!!! Agreed. Some folks complain that this is a negative for the players that did not participate , others actually call out this player. The reality is that most of us are too caught up on our own petty desires and wants and can't see that we have some great college kids giving everything they have for their school. Both the FB team and the band. They deserve support from fans and coaches alike. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The football team could atleast show a small thanks at the end of the day. Keep in mind this also is a way of showing us fans respect! Did we get it??

If there wasn't a football game wouldn't it just be called band practice? I'm not disrespecting the band at all but if weren't for the football game the band wouldn't be there. There have been football games without the band.
I think I'll have a beer.

I'm a former athlete and until I had a child in band I never knew how dedicated and good these kids are

You would be surprised how much money And time is put into these shows. Soccer doesn't have suites, stadium club seats but soccer is the most popular sport in the world. Not trying to say band is more popular than soccer overall but it gets a pretty large crowd in that stadium when the Troy band competition is in town.

Because you buy a ticket just to see the band, you're going to demand that everyone show them the respect you think they deserve? I'm well aware of how hard they work. I saw them at 8:45 yesterday morning. I think I'll have a beer.

I would NOT buy to watch Troy lose and that's all we've done recently.

I've never understood the band vs. football team stuff y'all get into sometimes.
TROY's music program and band are highly respected, and for me the Sound of the South is an integral part of gameday. It's a very symbiotic existence.
If there was no band, it would take away a lot of the joy and the emotion that come from hearing the fight song after a touchdown. I might not go to as many football games if there was no band - I really look forward to that aspect of the entertainment.
At the same time, the game on the field obviously matters to a lot of us too. The fight song's power would be greatly reduced if it wasn't being played while our athletes on the field strive for a victory. If there was no football team, I wouldn't be going to many band competitions.
To me both of these aspects of the game are equally important. A football game without SOTS just loses some of its luster. It's the pageantry of the whole experience that draws me to the games.

I realize the team was quite deflated after the loss, I just like acknowledging the the gesture by a player, Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Is that ok, with you? Is it ok that I encourage people to attend games, participate in events, and give to the school they love? I respect the band, cheerleaders, and everyone else that makes the gameday experience at Troy even better. However, I'm not going to demand that every single person bow at their feet. If I were at a band competition I wouldn't expect people to go praise the football team if they showed up. I think I'll have a beer.

It all matters and its not just about paying respect to the SOTS. Its about joining all of the students, band members and alumni in respecting Troy University's alma mater or fight song as it is being played for everyone. Its the closing of the sporting competition.... And it is a shame that it is being ignored by those in attendance and on this board by those unlike #31 Tyler Parker.

So going to Trojan Walk or fan day we are bowing at the football teams feet? No one said bow or kiss their but. Try to imagine Trojan walk with no band, pre game with no band, no band playing during the game, no Half time, no fight song, no fanfare. Ask some FAMU fans what it is like with no band? It sucks is the answer you will get. The team and the band are all part of Troy. The band doesn't quit on the team, the team needs to show the same respect
