Is Edenfield stuck on running these basic looking plays?? Or does anyone think we'll ever see any creativity?
It seems like the majority of Edenfield's plays are: run up the middle, run off tackle, pass to the running back, screen pass, occasional long pass down the sideline.
It would be nice to see: triple option, halfback pass to a wide receiver, pass play to a tight-end, shovel pass, QB fake-run that becomes a pass...
Troy has gone from becoming fun to watch to absolutely boring and expecting crap calls.

Why give our SB opponents any tape on new schemes, if we run any ? We destroy this FCS team with a base call package.

multiple options with deceptive motion is the present success and future of offense. Divide and conquer the defense with speed and more speed. Change or be left behind.

Ya know, I have to think that these coaches can see the writing on the wall. Right? I mean, CWB may just hang it up but others on staff have years to go. Presumably. Edenfield being one. So, if I assume that (and I do) then I follow that with the thought that they're doing what they can to pad their stats and create a highlight reel of sorts for themselves.
If not, they deserve what may come their way. I know a fair number of them personally and see them regularly. I would absolutely say all of the above to their face.
But that's just me. What do I know about anything?

What do I know about anything? There just seems to be no imagination whatsoever with the offensive play calling. At least Tony Franklin and Neal Brown had a little imagination and would run a trick play here and there. Edenfield does none of that. It reminds me more and more of the days when Fleetwood was the OC... IT'S DEJA VU!!!!

It reminds me more and more of the days when Fleetwood was the OC... IT'S DEJA VU!!!! KE's 2013 Troy Offense was the highest scoring offense vs sunbelt teams to date. 35 points per game in 2013 vs SBC. SBC CHAMPS ULL and Arkansas State tied for second this year with 30 points per game. I suspect KE is not the problem. The second highest was in 2010. Also a KE lead offense. Praise Neal and Tony all you want, but they are no KE when it comes to scoring points. The offense is not designed to look pretty for the fans, it's designed to score points. Any comparison to Fleetwood after two games is obvious sarcasm. The talent is there, once the QBs sort themselves out this offense will be extremely dangerous. EDIT. Some of my stats were off, but the points remain. Highest scoring offense in the SBC by far. ULL and ArkSt offenses couldn't hold a candle to Troys with KE at the helm. KE is not the problem. It will get better.

Even though the QB's have been learning and trying to get better (which I completely understand), I don't know what kind of explanation can be given to explain the poor, conservative play calling we've seen against UAB and Duke... unless they are worried about the QB's turning the ball over? Which that's pointless because we have only had one turnover on offense this season and still haven't scored more than 17 points in a game yet.

I remember Franklin's first season. 2nd game, first quarter against FSU, on 4th and short, we throw a fade for a long first down. When he was on, he threatened the whole field on any play. We are living in the same zones and same plays and are too predictable and defendable. We live by Chunn too much in short yardage. He had some TDs last year, but on average how many attempts did he have on each? Three attempts per 2 yard TD? We've got to have more options and make it easier for all of them.
