So, there they were, 2.65 million folks, probably with better things to do, gathered 'round the TV sets or crammed into the sweltering bleachers of the new Legion Field(I don't know or care about the name of the new joint). It was the Birmingham Bowl, a clash of pigskin titans—Troy against Duke. A spectacle that somehow managed to attract more eyes than a cat video on the internet.
Picture it: a football game in the heart of the Deep South, where the air was thicker than molasses and the excitement palpable, like the fizz in a shaken-up soda bottle. Troy, the scrappy underdog, locked horns with Duke, probably more used to sipping tea in fancy parlors than dealing with Southern grit.
In those 2.65 million pairs of eyes, there was a kind of collective curiosity, a shared "What the heck is gonna happen next?" as the players danced across the field. The football sailed through the air like a metaphorical bird, and each catch or fumble felt like a punchline in some cosmic joke.
Cheers erupted and curses were muttered, a cacophony of human emotion echoing through the humid air. It wasn't just a game; it was a communal experience, a fleeting diversion from the mundanity of life. And when the final whistle blew, there was either joy or dismay, but in the end, it was just a bunch of folks who'd spent a few hours together in the strange ritual of watching grown men chase an oddly-shaped ball.
So, in the grand scheme of things, the Birmingham Bowl became a blip in the timeline of those 2.65 million lives. A quirky chapter, a footnote in the annals of absurdity. But hey, for a moment, they all shared something—whether they liked it or not.

The rules are weird man. We were tailgating one time and it was really hot outside. A pair of band members in full uniform were talking to each other about finding water. I hollered for them to come over and take some bottles of water and anything else we had at our tailgate. They said they couldn’t because they could get in big trouble. I gave them water and my business card. I said if they had any problems at all, to call me and I would speak to Uncle Jack. If the band can’t take free water, then the rules for football must be really messed up.

Good luck to these young men. I read somewhere that something like 70% of transfer players don't start at their new team.

Listen, y'all, I reckon I'm feeling the blues, just like any other football soul out there. The game's done gone and shifted its shape. Coaches and players, they're up and leaving schools like it's nothin'. Kids, they're strolling into signing day behind the wheel of a Lamborghini. An undefeated FSU, told to hit the road. The game, it's riddled with corruption and schemes, and there's likely more foul play that slipped my mind in that tirade.
Now, the bright side: our love for Troy still burns strong. Troy, she's one of the truest gems in all of college football. Gameday on campus, it's a haven of safety and joy for you and yours. But what matters most is that Troy's still hungry for a scrap. The conniving mouse and the deep pockets up north of Richmond, they're aiming to smother Troy's shot at the big time. But Troy, she don't give a damn. We've always been the underdog, scrappin' and clawin', and that's what makes it so damn beautiful. You might not catch a victory every game, but stick with Troy, and sooner or later, you're hoisting another Sun Belt title, maybe even takin' down LSU on their own turf. Troy ain't asking for much either. Sure, you can stretch that wallet wide for Gary or Jonesy, but they ain't chasing you down for it. A ticket to a Troy game? A measly 10 bucks. The big spender who throws down a million, he's as glad to see the guy with the 10-dollar ticket.
So, let's all rally 'round old Troy, do what we can, even if it's just us fans congregatin' here, doing what we do best.

Neal Brown has built a great football program at WVU.

I think I am going to watch XHCNB take on UNC at 4:30. There's some garbage football on before that, but the WVU vs UNC game is the first real game of the day.

Zach long committed to Bowling Green… weird I watched Troy play there once. The stadium was junk. A downgrade for Zach.

Adios. Honestly I don't care that guys leave because it's all business these days. This is why Gunnar is the GOAT though. Hopefully HCGP can bring in some pieces and keep this thing rolling. Mike Turk is The GOAT.

Caleb Ransaw and Derrick Graham have entered Graham just scored a touchdown. Tell me what other school is going to give big man the ball. We could have run the Refrigerator Perry play with him in the redzone.

Here's what I am tripping on. For those of you that are skeptical about HCGP, is that going to prevent you from buying tickets, gear, or donating?

I’m sold on Parker, but he wasn’t on my top 3. My top 5 were: Neal Brown Larry Blakeney Jon Sumrall Rick Rhoades Chan Gailey So three retired coaches and two with current HC jobs? It’s Christmas. It’s my fantasy. All the coaches on my list are in their prime.

It would take a lot to convince me we hired Parker because we really, really wanted to; meaning that he was in the 1) spot on that list Brent Jones keeps in his pocket. Or even in the top ten. Or was even ON the list until we burned through those who actually were on it and now we were down to the bottom of the barrel of who was left to pick from. It still makes zero sense to me. The only thing it seems he had going for him was he was in the camp of Brown and our last head coach. There was not anyone anywhere in the college football world who saw this Crazy Ivan move coming. And the reaction wasn't "WOW! Didn't expect that but now that we see it, WOW!" No, instead the reaction was MUCH the same as when we hired Fester. The faithful remnant swallowing hard, keeping it positive while keeping their reservations to themselves, and saying, "well, let's get behind it and hope for the best" and the OTHER faithful remnant scratching their heads and going "Really?...Seriously?...What just happened?" So, trouble hiring a coach at Troy? Yeah, I think that's definitely more than plausible. Are there a lot of coaches who would love to come to Troy? Sure! Are there a lot who would settle for what Troy has to offer when it's time to talk business? Well, I believe apparently not or someone else would be coaching at Troy. It is said that Texas A&M leaked Stoops name early before it was official to run it up the flagpole for the fanbase and see the reaction. The reaction was very sour and offer was withdrawn. We are not TX A&M. So we have to settle for a PR campaign from previous coaches and others to try to cajole support for our hire when the reaction from many has again been, "really?...seriously?...what just happened? Make a "pros" wishlist of what you would want in a head coach and compare that to the actual pros list we're getting with Parker and it would in NO way be an inspiring exercise. We have trouble hiring the coach we want at Troy. We have no trouble hiring any coach we can get at Troy. Even if this one seems like a Troy-Kinda-Guy. I’m not following your logic. What are you basing this conclusion off of that he was not the #1 pick? Who would you have had in your top 3? I’m sold on Parker, but he wasn’t on my top 3. My top 5 were: Neal Brown Larry Blakeney Jon Sumrall Rick Rhoades Chan Gailey

I disagree. Anyone who wants to be a head coach and make millions should be stalking CJH and ADBJ. Troy is a gateway to millions.

When you can take your pick of coaches and staff from teams in your own conference, you know you are at the top.

I said nothing close to that crap I don’t want a “kinda guy”,I want loyal, hard working ,dedicated 200% Men of Troy.Don’t want transfer portal players ready to jump at the thought of greener pastures. I think that's what XHCNB wanted as well. He wanted to develop players from Frosh forward. There are some folks on the WVU boards that get what he is doing there. He builds programs the right way. I'm with you man, I want the same thing for Troy.
