www.instagram.com/reel/DAlgoWMJud1/?igsh=aWtxemljeTJwdXRqParker speaking on the Trojan program “we’re going to be just fine” “this program is in good hands” Continues on to promise to get the job done and will finish this thing out. A lot of supporters on here and other places have praised this coach up and down, defending and advocating for him. Some to the point he is the combination of Neal Brown and Jon Sumrall. I want to win. To the true believers of Gerard Parker, what can we believe in for the future ?? Because the program, the product on the field, the lack of so many intangibles are severely lacking and apparent and can be seen with one’s own eyes, backed up with a load of empirical data.

This season will leave a hole, how deep will be determined. Attendance will suffer, donations will suffer, future TV revenue will go down, etc. It will take a while to climb out of this hole. If things don't get turned around the hole just gets deeper and therfore harder and longer to get out.

three big and dangerous letters stand in the way or hinder fixing this.........................................N....I......L And this is an excuse. Nobody expects Troy to compete with the P4 teams. The landscape has changed. All of the G5 loses players now. There are a ton of players sitting on benches, not playing that just want a shot to play, that need very limited NIL money. With this, Troy can compete in Sunbelt. Look at ULM, bottom dwellers in Sunbelt since well forever. They are poorest program by far in SB. They are poor, no money. Facilities stink, stadium a dump. What happened ? 1. Brought in a good coach with fire. 2. Brought in players from Power programs just wanting to play. Success.

Half their roster is from UAb, a bottom feeder in the American, who followed their coach over. Passion and gumption mean a whole lot. Jon and Neal proved that.

No doubt the #1 is coaching passion and gumption (good description from ya). Sumrall took almost the same roster the Bald Menace and turned them into winners. But will say those players from UAB have talent to compete in SB. And ULM brought them in and proven it. With limited NIL.

A few thoughts after a humiliating loss. There is no doubt we lost several players to that jackass Sumrall. He raided the talent pool..especially the Dline. Others jumped in the portal and left. He also took coaches with him. All of this during Bowl Week for us. A very low class move. Parker came in with the smallest number of returning starters in years. Then , the injuries. It has been a perfect storm. Excuses, no. These are facts. Now what? Recruiting can go one of two ways. My hope is that he has a vision and can grab as many JUCCO players as possible. They need to be kids that can contribute on day one. Based on our current record, that is easier said than done. He has to try. We must stop the bleeding. Hopefully we can prevent the talent we do have from jumping in the portal and leaving . I do not have the answers. My hope is that we get past this and rebuild. I’m sure the players are frustrated, emotionally crushed and dealing with a lot of adversity. Last night the Defense played hard. I do not know what the heck was going on with offense. It may been the worst statistical performance in this decade. Three yards in the 1st Quarter? Wow. Again . I do not have the answers, but I am now giving up on the players. I pray we do not fold like a cheap lawn chair .

three big and dangerous letters stand in the way or hinder fixing this.........................................N....I......L So coaching is not a contributor? The word hinder does not preclude other reasons. However, to have your best pieces of a rebuild potentially moving is by far the most significant piece. While this school or that school may have a good year now WATCH OUT they will probably be hit worse than a team with less success by NIL.

Currently 2,900,000 reasons Jacksonville state pays Rich Rodriguez over a million a year. We can figure something out. It’s worth the money compared to losing most of your fan-base.

Someone say NIL? As for the portal, yeah we lost a bunch of talent who for the most part are contributing to their new rosters. Financially, we can’t match dollar for dollar with P4, nobody is kidding themselves there. When the guys have earned their right to land on a P4 team and get paid, good for them. As for the rest, it’s not about money, it’s about 100 other things, they want to follow their coach, they don’t want to be here because all the staff left and they want to start over. They have family elsewhere, the new coach was mean to them, there’s nothing keeping players on a roster anymore. Money helps but they can have a run-in with a coach one day and hit the portal the next. It’s a whole new world out there friends. To answer the question, yes GP will be fine. Y’all can quit calling for him to be fired after year one because that gets a lot accomplished! basepath.co/collective_checkout/trojans-together-collective?donation=true

A football shed offers very low value in today's recruiting/ practice field environmnent. Just "Imagine". Take $3,000,000 and divide by say. $5,500 per player/per year for support. 545 Player-supported years if my Casio is correct. But, but, but, when it rains we can't practice?? Have at it.

Great point but a very important law needs to change in Alabama. Currently universities cannot contribute to collectives or gives funds via NIL. Georgia and California have changed their laws… not bama.

I pray we do not fold like a cheap lawn chair . Hell to the NO on loading up on JUCO. Find a couple but loading up on them is a recipe for disaster You're living in LaLa Land...the only way to pull out of this nose dive is to load up on Juco kids, P4 transfers with checkered pasts and at this point, Ho will take those of loose moral character. Ho not care if they do Trojan walk wearing flip-flops, tank tops, smoking Camels and still recovering from a Thursday night binge if they stomp on necks. The old days of Larry were full of characters that would do just that. We need more Kelvin Simmons and Pratt Lyons and less Louis Templeton III. Trying to play freshman and sophomores is a road to a 6 year rebuilds. Those days are over. I can assure you JMU takes players, not men of character. Sure they parade around a scholar or two, but the majority are players first. You think ULM didn't scourer the list at Monroe Central Lockup looking for players?

There is a fund titled Alston funds that can be supported with a 501.3c deductible contribution that allows Universties to directly support Student-Athletes at about $5500 annually. This is IN ADDITION to funds that come from private collectives etc. So, to my point, spend $3mill on a football shed which will have little recruiting value vs paying athletes. Just pay the athletes. I'm not factually informed on what/where the sources of these funds can come from, but that $3mil has to come from somewhere and may not provide the intended incentive that's been discussed???

My apologies to Cornhole, You are 100% accurate concerning Alston funds. My position here strictly addresses outdated rationalizations for a huge expenditure of University funds. As you know, I support any reasonable way to attract and keep Athletic talent at Troy U!!
