Bill clark id be good with… we would be contenders every year under him… he was good for about 8-9 wins at UAB on average. Which is pretty impressive for UAB. Won 3 championships there too. He would likely stick around 5-10 years as well. Brian harsin? I could get on board with that too, proven winner Craddock and Gasparato? Idk they would worry me just because of all the unknowns, I’d lean towards Gaspaeato if I had to pick. The others really don’t excite me at all tbh. The AU fanbase says Harsin quit before he was fired. They say he did no recruiting. I know AU is a messed up place and the boosters practically call plays on game day, but I worry that he will what the youngsters call ghost-quit if he doesn't get his way. He didn’t recruit at the level he needed for the SEC. He did okay when he was at Boise.

What's Ed Ogeron doing these days? Someone suggested Scott Frost earlier this week. I like Scott better than Coach O. But we beat Frostie at Neb as well. (LSU almost fired Coach O after a dinky school from SE ALabama whipped 'em at Homecoming!!)

#1 for me is Bill Clark - he's a proven winner and would keep things moving steadily. Also a great recruiter. If you can win big at UAB, then you can win big, if not bigger, at Troy. This is a HARD NO...he is 65. The portal will be jammed full by the end of the week if they announce him. Pogue. Ekeridge. Even Steve Dennis. Youth. Excitement. Looking to do big things and move on after two more championships.

Corey Dennis - Ohio St QB coach would be my #1 target. Graduated from Charles Henderson, his dad used to be the AD at Troy during Blakeney era. He has coached Justin Fields, CJ Stroud, Dwayne Haskins, JT Barrett. Has been the lead recruiter for some of the top QB’s in the country. Has a lot of energy, very knowledgeable, and loves Troy. I think he and his would do a great job in the community.

We just took a chance on a Linebacker Coach at Kentucky no less.

How is he not ready? He has worked under Urban Meyer and Ryan Day. Worked with multiple different coordinators, coaches the most important position on the field. So Troy should never hire a coach that has coached QB’s? Neal Brown was a QB coach. If we look at 3/4 playoff teams - Harbaugh QB coach, Kalen Deboer QB coach, Sarkisian QB coach. #5 ranked FSU Norvell - QB coach. Not ready? He only coaches the most important position at one of the top 4 programs in the country. We just took a chance on a Linebacker Coach at Kentucky no less. Last QB coach we hired, how did that work out?

Sumrall is a great Head Coach, I think most of us would agree. But if you looked at his resume before hand, he was never the primary play caller. Highest position was LB coach at UK. Dennis has been the QB coach at Ohio State the last 4 years, had a QB in the Heisman Trophy finalists every year but one. He was also the Sr Analyst 2 years before that. Not ready? He only coaches the most important position at one of the top 4 programs in the country. We just took a chance on a Linebacker Coach at Kentucky no less. Not even a rational comparison of resumes.

Corey, Tho I like the kid, has no football Mgt Experience. He's not ready.

Those titles allow a school to pay a coach more money. Co-DC’s do not call plays. Assistant HC don’t make program decisions. Sumrall is a great Head Coach, I think most of us would agree. Correct, but their primary position is QB. The position that they have coached is QB. While the HC or OC they also work heavily with QB. I’m just saying a lot of successful teams head coaches have a background of coaching the QB position. So Troy should never hire a coach that has coached QB’s? Neal Brown was a QB coach. Right, I was saying that they are both in the same situation. Prior to Sumrall, I also believed that a Head Coach had to have playcalling experience. Sumrall changed my thinking on that. Those titles allow a school to pay a coach more money. Co-DC’s do not call plays. Assistant HC don’t make program decisions. Neither do QB Coaches.
