Read another article that made zero sense. It said " HCJS now signed through 2026" so we are going into the 2023 season so that would mean he was on a one year contract?

I think the important things here are that the admins are going to fight to keep him by paying him right, giving him more money for a better staff, and doing more for the players.

I doubt it keeps him here. If a P5 comes calling it won’t matter even if we were paying him 2 million a year. But Troy could get a better pay out from it.

Well when you win 12 and finish in the top 20 this happens or should happen. Glad to see Troy coming off those wallets. The staff pool part is very important to me

How soon yall forget. We did a very similar thing with Brown. We can’t hide the fact that we have a premier coach. We would struggle to defend against a blue blood trying to lure him away.
So What, Now What?
A. We do everything in our power to keep him. In this case, give an extension, a raise, and help him pay staff higher salaries.
B. We tack on a big buyout, so if he does go, the P5 school pays us well.
All that being said, from what I understand, football is a lower priority for Coach Sumrall than his family. I’m sure everyone says that, but I’m hearing the Sumrall family values consistent home life. Avoiding frequent moves is a priority. I’m not saying Coach won’t leave, I’m saying the offer has to be more than stacks of cash.

I don't think it's a secret that Sumrall is probably the favorite among their fans and administration to be the head coach at UK at some point.

I personally hope he stays long enough for Troy to get into the expanded playoff. Make some noise as the Cinderella story. Then make a decision where he will go. Could be best for everyone.

Sumrall was paid $825,000 last year. I'm sure that was just the base salary but DAMN! What a bargain Troy got last year! $825,000 for a 12-2 DI-A coach is a steal any way you look at.
If you want a $15 ticket for college football, drive to Livingston.
PS: Does anyone know what Sumrall made in bonuses/incentives? I hope it got him up near the $1mil mark.

The school is expected to officially announce the extension early in the coming week, I would expect it to happen Monday. Maybe those details will be included, but I’d be surprised if so. Buyout info will likely come from the street.

I didn’t complain, just wish there was something that said, “hey we”re doing this” I get it man. Everything is going up and it hurts. That being said, as mentioned before, at the current prices, Troy Football is still a great value. Also, if we keep winning, there may be a point where you can flip your seats for some chedda. That's what season ticket holders do at those other two schools. They buy their season tickets and then flip them for profit. That makes the football experience at those $hit holes miserable. It costs money to tailgate at auburn for a small plot. I tailgate under some wonderful oak trees with an open hall next to me with air conditioning, clean bathrooms, and occasionally, free swag. Troy is one of the last places in college football that cares about the fan experience and not how they can squeeze every nickel out of them. PS. Pack The Vet will not be a slogan for long as we are now among the football elite.

But do you know whose dream job it is ? JS Dreams can change. HCJS played at UK but he's an Alabama man. He could one day get the UA job. You can be the best coach in the world, but if you don't go to a school that wants to win, you won't win. Listen to what HCJS has been saying about Troy. Troy wants to win. HCJS is a great football coach, but without support from the Trojan Warrior nation, he wouldn't of come here. Us goofballs on this message board are part of the winning process. Ever visited a UK message board? I'll save you the time, it's 95% basketball talk even in football season. We are 99% football talk in any season. It all matters.
