oh well get a ring and leave, bye I’m going to hang back on these until I hear why. I learned sometimes these players are asked to move on and not for fireable offenses.

I know we all have opinions on NIL and portal. I don't like the part of the portal where a player can essentially leave his team and the staff find out via social media. I wish coaches HAD to sign off. I do like the fact players CAN leave just like they always have been able too, it's just public knowledge now.
If I were in charge of the NCAA, this would be the rules of czar Jones: Portal - transfer 1 time anywhere you want, play immediately. Any other transfers, you pay your way (with NIL $ you can do that) NIL - set an annual "salary cap", I don't have that dollar amount but I would have it at a reasonable amount for a college student who is 18-22 years old. This would eliminate Mercedes and BMW deals, but will still award these student athletes as they should be awarded. Scholarship - I would eliminate the taxes that international players have to pay based on scholarship value. This is ridiculous!

If players have to get a sign-off, should coaches have to get a sign-off when they leave at the drop of a hat ? After making promises to every single kid in the program. If coaches can leave, players should get to leave under the same circumstances.

There are some losers who allow the players to see it on social media and never say goodbye. As for portal players, many click a button and dissappear.

Now this is our Frats’ dumpster over here. Just so you know, there’s lots of frats on campus and there’s a frat for everyone. I think URaDB may be a great fit! 😅

It's a little over 40 percent that don't end up signing somewhere else - or have to walk-on - which is a staggering number itself. Also, less than 40 percent of FBS transfers land anywhere at all, too. The portal is trickling down to FCS, DII and the JUCO levels and will also start impacting high school athletes, as well. It's going to be a solid (in a sense) for FCS and JUCOs as far as maybe some high school kids that would have gotten FBS offers in previous years but it's going to get to the point where every single level will be affected.

No doubt it has already impacted JUCO/High school players. Not the 4-5 stars as they will always have a place on a roster but more of the projects and 2-3 stars will have to go JUCO.I think in 2020 there were around 300 JUCO players nationwide that signed FBS scholarships. In 2022 that number was cut down to around 100.

Peter Costello hit the portal Has anyone told Saint? We need to be here for him during this time. He too may need a comfort animal. I would suggest a squirrel. They can fit in your pocket and go everywhere with you. Plus, they are readily replaceable in case you lose them or run over them with the car.

Peter Costello hit the portal This makes me wonder if he was passed on the depth chart by Quade or Tucker. Either way best of luck to him.

A lot of interesting things being said about this Portal move. We’ll see. Plenty of QB dudes available in Portal with good talent to come in and take the job and excel. Everyone is replaceable.

Does losing players to the portal allow you to sign extra players to refill your roster? Still a hard a limit on how many you can sign?
EDIT: found an article regarding the matter. Looks like coaches wanted a 1-1 but the NCAA dumped the signing rule altogether (don't see it coming back). Rosters can only have 85 scholarships at any time now, where before you had to cut to 85 before fall camp.

Charles Strong and Anthony Lewis are in portal. Frankly a scholly opening is more valuable to Staff than Charles Strong. Anthony may be another matter.
