It just went final in Mobile and West Mobile Community College won. Thursday night's game will be officially for the lead int the SBC West, not just for a wearable trophy. Jan Nation has no idea what they are in for when the Sumrall Brawl rolls in town.

We played terrible yesterday and pulled out a win. Sumrall was ticked and will get this team ready to be 1-0 Thursday night. We have yet to play a complete game. Will Thursday be the night?

Good time for our best performance. Actually, USAAT is playing pretty well right now. It will take a complete game. The great thing about this game is that you have somewhat of a national audience. Our fans will be more concentrated into an area. I am not criticizing our home crowds but frankly not real ravenous in our area except for brief moments. The concentrated (slightly more fanatical) will be whipping ourselves into a frenzy. It actually produces sometimes more noise for the team. These guys feed off of that. Plus, so do we as fans. Great environment with NO WALK OVER EXPECTATIONS heightens our teams intensity play by play. As long as disaster does not hit early, I like our chances in this one. As long as we have some receivers to play the game. ESPN put this on their network groups due to the crowds and rivalry and now they are getting the bonus of a G5 top-flight game for a national game. If the ESPN II or even if the ESPN I games suck the guy at home is speaking into his voice remote: ESPNU and seeing a good crowd and hopefully competitive game and watching for a while.
GO TROJANS!!!

If you plan on making the trip to Mobile and you're looking for something to eat before or after the game allow me to help. The stadium is practically at the intersection of University Blvd and Old Shell Road. In that area you'll find your average chain restaurants (McDonald's, Subway, Hungry Howie's, etc...) I know there is a couple of Mexican Restaurants, an Italian Restaurant and Heroes Sports Bar but I'm not too familiar with that part of town so I cannot say how good they are.
If you go South on University you'll run into Airport Blvd. and the same deal, lots of chain restaurants. There is a Half Shell Oyster House near the I-65. It's a New Orleans style place but it is a little pricey in my opinion.
If you go East on Old Shell Road you'll come across a Dreamland BBQ but if you head into midtown you'll run into a pocket of restaurants at the North Florida Street intersection. There is a Lost Pizza Company, Taco Mama, Rock n' Roll Sushi, The Simple Greek (it's like Chipotle but with Greek food), Butch Cassidy Cafe (Home of the "Butch Burger") and Cammie's Old Dutch Ice Cream Shop.
If you're feeling adventurous head to Dauphin Street where there is a ton of restaurants, bars and a couple of Mardi Gras shops that have some hidden gems. As far as restaurants go I'm partial to the Blind Mule which looks like a dive bar with some local brews but surprisingly has some good food. Loda Bier Garten has maybe a 100 beers on tap along with some good eats, Mama's on Dauphin's is a meat and three but they're only open for lunch. Mo'Bay Beignet Company is a must for those of you with a sweet tooth. Wet Willies is a good daquiri bar but fair warning: they are super sweet so you don't know if you have an alcohol buzz or your body is crashing from all the sugar. Spot of Tea is a Nice place for a breakfast or lunch and Three Georges is a great candy shop with lots of homemade chocolates and a place to grab an ice cream. If you're looking for something fancy then Dauphin's is the place to go. It's on the 34th floor of a building and has a great view and some really good food but it does have a dress code such as gentlemen must wear a jacket. They weren't too strict about it when my wife and I went there for our Anniversary and while we did pay a lot I felt we got our money's worth in quality of food, portions and atmosphere. It's a great place to take your wife or take your girlfriend but I wouldn't take them both.
Further East is the Cause Way. You are right out in the middle of Mobile Bay. Felix's Fish Camp has some amazing Crap Soup, The Original Oyster House has this amazing peanut butter pie for dessert and The Blue Gill has good eats as well as live music.
If you're visiting I would say Eat on the Cause Way, can't really go wrong, then go back to Dauphin Street and grab a few drinks and hit up the Mardi Gras Shops.

Thanks for all the tips. I went to Hero’s two years ago and it was pretty good. I think we are meeting up with some folks at Walk Ons. One of my favorite chains!! Go Trojans!!

We will eat at The Original Oyster House on the way out of town Friday, it’s one of our favorites. I do have a question though. A long, long time ago there was a Godfather’s Pizza in Dothan and it was really good. There is one on Moffett road about 2 miles from campus (this was the first Godfather’s I ever ate at in 1979). My wife has found out about it and is really wanting to eat there for a late lunch Thursday. Is it still good pizza?
